For Hanzal, i'd move Hayes to the wing.

And, the good thing is, Hayes would only have to spend about 3 minutes on the wing before Hanzal gets hurt again.
Jk.

No, I know your not. They are going to need him to be good, and make timely stops. I agree with RangerDanger that the biggest issue with Cam sometime is not making the timely stop, giving up goals at the ends and beginning of periods or at otherwise bad times.

In the end, he certainly hasn't been bad. He's not Hank and I don't think any of us expect him to be. He just needs to be solid and give the team a chance to win, and the team around him needs to play solid team defense and put the puck in the net.

- Pete V

I think when he's at his best, he's not trying to do too much and just letting the puck hit him. He generally is sound on his angles/positioning and just stops the puck. But since Hank went down and I took out the microscope to dissect his play, it seems he's playing deeper in the net. Hank gets away with it because he is more a reflex/reaction goalie, but I don't think it suits Cam. He needs to be out near the top of the crease to make himself bigger and just let the game come to him. At least, that's what I think.
And I'm not saying he's been good or bad. I just think he can be better because I've seen him be better.

I like the third line of Hayes, Hagelin and Miller, although I have no confidence that AV will leave it that way.

I also don't mind Fast and Moore on the fourth line, although I am really not sure what Stempniak adds.

I don't think the Rangers really need anything, but certainly an upgrade to the bottom 6 and/or the third pair would be nice, assuming the price is right.

I like that line to. But I don't see him benching Glass or Stempniak. They need to find a replacement for the 4th line.

They could go one stop rental shopping and see what the Canes would want for both Tlusty and Sekera?

Just want to make sure I got all the basis covered here, Matt.

On Santorelli:

Among the forwards that Pittsburgh is keeping a close on these days are Toronto Maple Leafs teammates Daniel Winnik and Mike Santorelli. Both are pending unrestricted free agents headed out the door and both carry cheap cap hits, which is very important to a cap-tight team like Pittsburgh.

Thing is, they’re hardly alone in eyeing one of those two players just for that reason. It’s believed the Leafs are asking for a second-round pick for each of those guys, a fairly high price that some teams are balking at right now, but given the interest, they just might get it from somebody.

Well it's Vermette or Santorelli, with that back surgery you can't scratch Hanzal

You know we're getting vermette now. Probably for both 2nd rounders and at least Miller and/or Mcilrath.

I know I'm crazy, but humor me, put together a deal for Yakupov that doesn't involve any of the any of the Top 8 forwards (I'm including Hags and Hayes, along with the Top 6).

I don't know and to be honest, I have not given Yakupov any thought. Not a believer of the hype surrounding him. Plus Edmonton would want the sun and the stars.

In order for the Rangers to return to the Stanley Cup finals, three things need to happen.

1, Lundqvist needs to return to good health.

2. Acquire a player good on faceoffs. The current group is awful.

3. And most difficult acquire a top six forward capable of scoring, teams will key on Nash, and MSL is shot.

Where does the cap space come from for that? One you acquire a center that is good at the dots, the Rangers will be forced to be sit back and watch.

Well, you have pretty much answered the question. They won't win the cup.

Looking at the Rangers cap situation is anyone else as happy as I am that they didn't sign Callahan to a 6.5mm multi-year hit? The only positive that I could see is maybe they would of been so cap-strapped this past offseason that they didn't sign Glass. But in all seriousness they most likely would not be able to add any help before the trade deadline and with Stepan's agent already licking his chops would definitely have to say goodbye to at least two if not all of Zucc/Hagelin/Staal(doubt a deal would of gotten done) with minimal cap room to add any viable replacements.

Enjoy the remainder of the season. You never know what can happen, but they are not as curently constructed good enough to win the cup.

That was the same story last year from some fans. But being that they lost in the Finals I guess those fans were right.

Wait until "the cigar" throws money at MSL to come back so that he can justify trading that boat load for him. Mostly likey at the expense of zuccs.

The first round pick is the only regret I think. But overall MSL back on a 1-2 year 3mm per should be well received. Thats assuming he is able to break out of his slump and therefore shows that there is still something left in the tank. MSL at 75% of what he used to be is still a very dangerous player.
