ya pretty much all of October. Then slowly brought back.
Look I'm not saying he's ready now or anything, I'm talking about his potential. I think he has a higher ceiling than anybody else in the system. - Badge
I don't disagree with you was just asking out his injury. I love Finn and hope he becomes a great player for us. I seen him play many many times last year. |

I'd imagine 99% of prospects are not guaranteed to make the NHL - walshyleafsfan
yup, but that is what we are talking about.
people were saying let the kids play. Question was asked what kids we actually have who are expected to be anything more than 3rd liners.
answer is nobody beyond Nylander at the moment. Connor Brown is still very much a long shot.

No thanks. Dont want older players.
If they cant get Carolina to a playoff spot they sure arnt going to in toronto. - jake24242
I thought for sure you guys would take that deal...
You get rid of Phaneuf & his contract...take on Eric at the same age who only has one year left, and get Jordan Staal at 25.
Seemed like a no brainer to me. |

27 by start of next season... making $6M a year, putting up maybe 50 pts.

Brown is a huge longshot. Our prospects are a disgrace considering how bad we've been. Only rielly is IMO a player to build aaround. Nylander looks good but we need that #1 centre. Its going down buffalo or edmonton style...and thats the right thing. We have a bare cupboard except for a few maybe role players.

Why do you see brown as a long shot he has as much potential as nylander.
Lead the league last year in points and now is doing it on the marlies in his rookie year. |

I dont think he will except that so even worse then if we traded for him he would walk away as a UFA. |

The list of ohl players to lead the league in scoring to never make the nhl is huge. Ive seen him play a ton and played against him a few times. Hes a longshot to crack the top 6 in the nhl and thats all he is suited for.
Nylander has far more potential. Connor brown was an older player in the O last year.
I do hope he proves me wrong but i predict hes never gonna be an impact player for us. |

none of those are top 6 NHLers. outside shot to Brown... maybe.
Johnsson not part of the discussion as it was about Marlies. - Badge
Why not Leivo?
Brown is putting up very impressive numbers for an AHL rookie. |

Again leading the marlies in points is very impressive in a rookie year. And he is a very hard working in the off season and practice he has a drive to get better and win. I see him as a nyquist type. |

Nylander's ceiling and raw skill are much higher IMO. He's expected to be at worse a 2nd line winger, at best a 1st line C.
Brown's stock has certainly improved since he was drafted, but he isn't an elite prospect right now. Again, doesn't mean he won't make it. Just he doesn't have the same expectations (from Leafs brass) as Nylander. Brown making it is a bonus. Nylander not making it is a huge let down.

Hey i hope im wrong. But again, from seeing him play and playing him, i dont see it.
Also tons of guys do well in the AHL too to never make it. I hope hes the next corey perry. But he isnt an elite prospect |
