How do you know Duchene wouldn't be picked first by someone else. At the time, it wasn't even close to a foregone conclusion.

I won't disagree at all on this one, I think the point was not expecting 54 points out of Reinhart his first year. He's going to be good, but when you start expecting that from rookies it leads to disappointment more often than not.

I don't think 54 points is out of the question for the former #2 pick in the draft when he'll be playing second fiddle to McEichel.

I remember the Leafs trying to pull scheme to get him ineligible for the draft. In order to have him be a UFA at 18 so they could throw the max contract at him to keep him from the Island.

That was referring to me? Not mad at all don't know how anyone came to that conclusion? Was just trying to stop someone from saying I was comparing Tavares to Gretzky which I was not. Comparing the hype and juniors their draft years not them as players overall. The guy was billed as "The Next One" that's not me saying he was or is but that's what he was labeled as his draft year.

Does the Peg make the playoffs? They are now a softer team with losing Bogo and Kane and replacing with Myers and Staff.. that was their strong suit.

So what are we even talking about? Did I somehow switch who I was debating with without realizing it?

The thing is Buffalo will be fielding a very good team next year. Mceichel,Reinhart,kane,molson,girgensons,ennis,foligno and what ever other prospects we bring up. The defense looks like it is shaping up nice too with a nice building block of risto,begosian,zadarov. The thing that people fail to realise too is with already having this setup we have a ton of cap space that we can spend in this years free agency as well as next years to pick up top notch players to insert into either offensive or defensive roles. The sabres are a lot farther ahead in this rebuild then most people think or realise.
