I think they are failing to live up to expectations. It was on Darcy to not be proactive to get depth defensemen when ours were getting hurt. You can't play with severe injuries and you can't coach players that aren't on the ice. - thatsapickle
Luck is a factor too. They weren't lucky in the health dept. Typical Buffalo. |

From a business standpoint, aren't you supposed to prepare for all possibilities? I would think that it's common knowledge that players get hurt before, going into, or during the playoffs. Darcy could have been more proactive to solidify the chance to contend. Obviously hindsight is 20/20. |

Been a busy few days here. Unfortunately, the lack of work getting done yesterday because of the trade meant I had to buckle down at work today and get more done. Everyone being civil today? |

Definitely.
They are world class players, but they have been stagnant at times in the post season. MAF included (who was a 1st overall pick)
Part of their problem is depth, other part is underwhelming play or injuries to their stars |

HomieD was suggesting it was Satan but I don't think Satan was under-rated myself. I remember when dude put up 40, people loved him.
Please god no one mention Grosek, though lol. I remember my aunt loved him. Always talked about how much he could bench. I always told her how much he couldn't play hockey. |

He was kind of forced to turn the team over to those guys
He was told he could keep Drury OR Briere, NOT BOTH
he thought he had a deal with Drury, & then Quinn Fd it all up by not allowing the paperwork to be completed
Drury got pissed & walked
None of that was Darcy's fault
As far as a trade to put us over the top...
1) those rarely work out... For every Carter & Richards to LA, there's 10 other playoff teams that made deals & didn't win the Cup
2) there might not have been a reasonable deal to make... How did giving up Forsberg for Erat work for the Caps? But at least they "went for it"
F that
3) I'd consider getting zubris for a 1st the type of move you're talking about...
4) again, those deals rarely work
And Darcy had those pieces to sell off BC he got them here to begin with
"Bold" moves don't equal "good" moves btw - jdfitz77
How did you get a hold of the speech Darcy used to pull the wool over TPeg's eyes?
The good news is that all that inactivity resulted in not even a sniff of a championship and a franchise in ruins. But hey, we owe him for that.

I agree. Everyone liked to get on him, but I liked the kind of game he played. I just think the most of the hate we heard about him was because the coaching staff put him in that position. They had a tendency to put him in roles he wasn't really suited for. |
