Hence, why I have said the man has done nothing as GM yet except trade 2 intriguing prospects a 2nd pairing dman, a 10/11 year vet with the club in Staff AND a 1st round pick for a dman comparable to Myers and a troubled immature injured took the opposing GM's word he will be fine hockey player.
Traded the best goalie this organization has to play at the NHL level.
Sounds terrific, can't wait for more from this stooge.
He's to eager to apply "his stamp".
I've seen this guy many times in my long life.
He has epic failure written all over himself. - BuffaloHardHat
And you've seen the Darcy's and Ted's and they're the winners, right? |

So if the Sabres draft first or second this year, and one of those draft picks plays for 15 years, and the Sabres win, you will not give credit to Murray because that is all of Darcy's blueprint?
So basically, Murray has to be on he job for 15 years until he can be judged. Got it. - rmiethaner
I said it earlier, 5-6 before I begin to give him credit.
I don't think he lasts that long here IMO. |

Actually, I'm liking this trade a lot. Just wondering why Lemieux wouldn't sign here, when every other team passed him up. You'd think a newly rebuilt team would be perfect for him. - sippyd
Didn't want to play for that bum Nolan? |

Not to mention getting pretty much max value for 2 UFA's to be in Ott and Miller, moved a underperforming prospect D in McNabb for a young stud tearing up the NCAA and a player that has found a nice spot on the 4th line in Deslauriers.
He is building a team you should actually like knowing your feelings about Mike Weber. He is building a big, physical team that will be very hard to play against. Something Darcy could never quite figure out and why his teams post Hasek didn't do very well minus the 2 seasons out of the lockout year. |

By the time he'd make it up here, Nolan would be long gone.

Like I said before, you have to have trust in a setting where you only have 30 other entities to work with. Otherwise, you cripple your ability to do your job. If you rip someone off, he's never going to work with you again, which proves detrimental. And that doesn't even start to speak of the reputation you build as a snake. - buffalofan19
Which is why there were several GMs like Brian Burke who refused to work with Darcy. You soil a reputation you lost a partner in the future. |

Kane. He would be here first.
Although it does seem like Kane likes his money. If it was the NFL, maybe there would be an instagram pick of Kane with Eichel's signing bonus check in his hand for the number. |

The one indirect effect this Kane trade has is that if the Sabres somehow God forbid fall to 3rd, taking Hanifin doesn't seem like as much of a waste. |

I heard a Canadian media guy interviewed yesterday saying how TM pulled a rabbit out of his hat with that Miller trade last year because the goalie trade market has been so bare for awhile and obviously couldn't do it again with Enroth. When you think about Miller being a UFA goalie and getting that package, he did pretty well. |

I will say this. Hat has a point about one thing. How much does an AHL GM really do when it comes to decision making? Most of the roster decisions are really made by the NHL club. - buffalofan19
It all depends on how you build your team, if its via trades then its all on the GM to make those moves. If its via the draft, the GM is less important IMO and you have to give the real credit to the scouts. |

That is not a bad point at all.
I would rather have the center, but the thinking could change.
Edit: Although they do not have the goaltending to play as a defensive team. |
