I wonder why his winning % is under .500 .
It wasn't before he walked into this mess last year.
That stat is not even fair but I understand its what you people that dislike Nolan have as ammo.
You can't use "he's not an X's and O's coach" any longer because Paul Hamilton shot that fallacy down the other day.
So, it's what you have, I understand but it's not fair at all to Ted the way you are manipulating his coaching totals when you include the past 2 seasons with this roster.
Again, before he walked into this mess he had a winning %.
Let me ask you this question, do you think Jacques Demers was a good coach?
edit: I should have prefaced by stating that you can't go googling Demers.
Can't wait for your reply. - BuffaloHardHat
An overtime loss is still a loss. If I'm not mistaken, before round 2 with the Sabres, Ted Nolan's NHL career coaching record was 148-161-19. Still below .500. If I'm wrong on when they switched from ties to overtime losses then I apologize.
I think Nolan got screwed over the first time with the Sabres and should have been given more than a one year contract offer to see what he could do. However I never wanted to see him brought back and never understood the fans that did.
Regardless of how the team is constructed, he hasn't done enough to deserve to stay on.
My guess is they let him go at the end of the season, he gets his two years of pay which he should have gotten the first time around, and the Sabres move on.
Hopefully, this time around, the fans can move on as well. But we are fans and history shows many won't. |

Its not like myers dominated the game. If he plays well for them good for him, if he doesnt oh well. Hes no longer a sabre anyhow so why debate on another teams player? - zdp1189

Chevy came out and said he wanted Myers. Murray said he couldnt get Kane without Myers being included in the deal. Murray said if he was dealing with any other GM he probably couldve given up different prospects, but Chevy was locked in on Armia and Lemiuex. Murray acknowledged that we are loaded in prospects and it was time to start upgrading the team.
At the end of the day Murray swapped a top pairing D for a top pairing D AND picked up his top 6 winger for pieces he doesnt think will hurt us in the long run. Thats all you really need to get out of the trade. He got the proven NHL talent back in the deal by only giving up Myers. Murray looks at this trade as Myers for Kane, Bogosian, and I dont fault him on that.
I was never upset about losing Armia, Lemiuex or the 1st round pick. Where I fell in the negative spectrum of this trade is that I didnt really want Kane and admittedly dont know too much about Bogosian game to make a real assessment on how close he is to Myers. What I do know is what we had in Myers, and I would rather have had that in our defensive mix, but Murray put his ass on the line for Kane, I hope Kane steps up next year and doesnt make Murray regret it. - theblueandgold
Don't open that can.
A lot of people don't consider Kane is only 23 and, for forwards, he's just about to hit his prime, on a freshly repaired shoulder, hand and foot. We have a special (read:rare) type of player now and I'm very excited to watch him physically dominate the opposition.

12 month deal
then the "basic" cable and internet go up $10 total and I will have to cancel HBO
the plus is it will open up all kinds of options on the roku |

for all of those that say we overpayed for Kane
if instead of giving up staff, armia, our first and lemiuex, would you think any different if we gave up the blues first, the islanders first and both of our second rd picks instead?
come summer time there will be extra bodies in the pipeline to replace armia and lemieux - homiedclown
You know how much I liked Myers. So initially this trade hurt in a "what the (frank)?!". Never was and never will be upset about losing Armia, Lemiuex and the 1st.
But after listening to Murray and getting a read on his frame of mind, I think he really believes he won this deal. It was Myers for Kane and Bogo. He basically said we have a large enough prospect pool that losing those 3 pieces (Armia, Lemiuex, the 1st) wont have an impact going forward. And hes right. |

Who are the 2 rookies with similar skill sets to Tavares you're adding I figured one is Mceichel who is the other one? Also do you have Martin, Cizikas, Clutterbuck, DeHaan, Hamonic, Nielsen, Nelson, Strome, Lee and that's just who we had last time we went to the playoffs minus the rookies in a shortened season. Forget about adding Boychuck, Leddy, Halak, Grabovski, Kulemin in the offseason this year to be competitive.
As far as knowing that those 3 players will instantly improve your team I have no idea? I have never seen them play an NHL game? How could myself or anyone else claim that it'd instantly make your special teams better? Who is your goaltender? Who do you have on defense minus Weber and Gorges that's not a first yr player and haven't exactly been lighting it up? Bogosian? I like him but he's a legit top 4.
Murray would have to move heaven and earth for you guys to even be a bubble team next year IMO I have no idea how anyone could possibly think otherwise and with this UFA market and teams penchant for signing players before they even reach UFA I'd expect this free agency to be the slimmest in years considering it is now today at this very moment forget about factoring in who signs with their teams before July. Sorry this comes off as me throwing a dagger which isn't my ambition but I think I just stated a whole lot of fact just don't know how else to deliver it? - Cptmjl
I think this makes a lot of sense. Plus there's no point in making any predictions about next season until September when the roster is clear. So much can happen between now and then.
I expect the Sabres to be better next year, somewhere between 20-25th overall in the league.

Because it's relevant. Some don't think this trade was super awesome.
Top pairing defensemen are more important than scoring wingers every day and twice on Sunday. We gave up one. WPG was playing him as their #2.
I said this the day of the trade, you can find wingers to play with great centers almost anywhere and still succeed |

We're shallow at LW, and I hope we manage to draft Crouse if he drops. We get Baptiste and Bailey in Rochester next year and Fasching in two years. When we trade these prospects, I'm sure Murray and his entire team thinks these things out pretty damn well. |

I hated the trade at first, because of lemieux
it grew on me more that evening
now I have come to grips that the bodies of lemieux and armia will be replaced this summer with our second first rd pick and the early second rd pick we already have
Bogo appears to be a force in his own end, which we need and has an above average slapper
Kane can be a difference maker
I will give it some time now and I am open minded |

No, the point was more of McEichel is going to be making top line players out of average to slightly above average wingers.... |

Of course he "thinks he won deal".
Of course he is going to say these things publicly.
What else do you expect the idiot to say, "I was fleeced but I will learn from it" ? |
