Kane said in the article they had on ESPN that the surgery was completely necessary. They found a lot more going on in there than originally thought, but had he not had the surgery and played out the rest of the year, it could have been career ending.

There is no guarantee his attitude issues disappear either.

Its not like he is an established All pro. We didnt get Rick Nash or Taylor Hall who have put up 80 point seasons

I liked the trade, but you have to acknowledge that it's fair to ask what happens after 15-16. Will Kane settle in and be a regular contributor or did we sell off the prospects for a failed experiment.

Nobody will know til the experiment is over.
