we are shallow but we got the first line NHL player now which allows it to be less of a need
and do not forget about Possler
- homiedclown
Of course. I'm not saying it's a loss, but our pipeline of lw is very thin. Carrier, Karabacek, Possler.. these guys aren't standing out yet. I'd love to pick up a sure fire future NHLer in the draft or trade.

Of course he "thinks he won deal".
Of course he is going to say these things publicly.

I hated the trade at first, because of lemieux
it grew on me more that evening
now I have come to grips that the bodies of lemieux and armia will be replaced this summer with our second first rd pick and the early second rd pick we already have
Bogo appears to be a force in his own end, which we need and has an above average slapper
Kane can be a difference maker
I will give it some time now and I am open minded - homiedclown
If he is healthy I am sure he can be.
I mean after all, Murray got "Chevy's word" that Kane's injury will be okay down the road.
Pretty much verbatim what Murray said.
After he caught himself saying that, then he said some garbled mess about our trainers talking to their trainers.
That's your GM.

You can find top line wingers almost anywhere?
- Irish 14
Justin Williams
Chris Kunitz
Ryan Callahan (your boy)
Patrick Sharp
All have had or will have had better years than Kane has had by playing with someone like Crosby/Toews etc.
We got the complimentary piece before getting the top flight center |

No, the point was more of McEichel is going to be making top line players out of average to slightly above average wingers.... - theblueandgold
Example A: Kunitz
Example B: Hornqvist
Example C: Perron
Example D: Versteeg
Example E: Foligno, N
And on and on.. |

No. I didnt say "he thinks" I said I think that "he believes". As in there is no question in his mind that he won the deal. And hes all but confirmed that.
Myers for Kane and Bogosian. That was the deal for Murray. Blown away. Value. |

for all of those that say we overpayed for Kane
if instead of giving up staff, armia, our first and lemiuex, would you think any different if we gave up the blues first, the islanders first and both of our second rd picks instead?
come summer time there will be extra bodies in the pipeline to replace armia and lemieux - homiedclown
I'm a huge Armia fan, so yes, I'd have preferred that. Besides, those draft picks would mean the time spent already on Armia wasn't "wasted" (can't say that about Lemieux as he was just drafted this past year). |

Kane > Armia. It doesnt matter about the "lost developing time" We got a player 2 years older and 6 years ahead in his development. We turned it into a positive. |

If the price is right, do the Sabres go after Kessel? - homiedclown
I've been talking about him for a week or two now and would LOVE him on this team. But I can't imagine what the cost would be, plus they might actually put together some wins if here were there. |

Murray is banking on a lot of things to fall in place for this trade to be a "win" |

I was watching him last night, the effort is there
It seems more like a bad situation for him. The leafs are a mess and look at where they will be in 3 years vs us and the gap appears wide.
I'd kick the tires over the summer for him |

And WPG's GM isn't?
There is risk to both sides, which makes this a good hockey trade for both teams. Some people just can't accept that one GM didn't "win". But if you look at trades similar to this, the team that gets the best player (i.e. Kane) usually "win". |

he just improved the first line for 2015-16
he just improved the pp for 2015-16
he just improved the pk for 2015-16
he just improved his chance to finish 30th this season
his team got more physical and faster for 2015-16 |

Definitely. I don't want to screw things up by taking away their best player, thus letting them tank harder (though they don't seem to need much help) and increase Buffalo's chances at victories the rest of this year. |

Big $ per year over big years, and by summer he may be gone. I'm not sure he's the right guy for this team at the moment. |

I completely understood the subject. When it comes to draft picks or time spent on developing a player such as Armia in exchange for Kane, the time spent on developing is an absolute wash. |

So Reinhart has no chance at being that? Or the likelihood of finishing dead last again?
He hedged his bet against that 2nd possibility, seeing the trajectory of this team and figuring it will continue for the last 30-ish games. |

I have been listening to nhl network on sirus a lot over the last few days and more analysts then not are saying the sabres got the best 2 players
They are all saying Myers has the talent but has yet to get it all together
Not a dig on Myers, just saying what is on the airways

Kane said in the article they had on ESPN that the surgery was completely necessary. They found a lot more going on in there than originally thought, but had he not had the surgery and played out the rest of the year, it could have been career ending. |

Kane isnt a superstar (yet)
There is no guarantee his attitude issues disappear either.
Its not like he is an established All pro. We didnt get Rick Nash or Taylor Hall who have put up 80 point seasons |

I liked the trade, but you have to acknowledge that it's fair to ask what happens after 15-16. Will Kane settle in and be a regular contributor or did we sell off the prospects for a failed experiment.
Nobody will know til the experiment is over. |
