I hear people say he quit on the team?
How is playing through 2 broken bones and a shoulder that would come separated during games quitting on your team.
I am fully convinced the Buffalo media does not believe what they say, but just need to create interest. - ImThatGuy
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Feb 12
My #Sabres column: Lots of concern based on Kane & what it took to get him. http://www.buffalonews.co...this-blockbuster-20150211 …. GMTM either went deep or popped up.
Joe @PBRnSabres2 Feb 12
@BNHarrington Mike, do you truly believe Kane "quit" on his team?
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Feb 12
@PBRnSabres2 Yep. On a playoff team, no less. A star player and they dumped him in a week. They think he quit too.
Joe @PBRnSabres2 Feb 12
@BNHarrington As I won't dismiss your opinion, have you considered his shoulder was unusable and it's a coincidence about the timing?
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Feb 12
@PBRnSabres2 Nope. It wasn't.
He's the worst. Literally the worst. |

Your opinion is your opinion and that's all well and good.
Tarasenko is 23 and this is his first big season. Forsberg was drafted right before Grigs. I'm not sure if it's fair to compare a now 19 year old with Tarasenko, who's 4 years ahead of him. Right now, Forsberg is ahead of Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, Yakupov, Faksa, Wilson, Teraveinen and so on and so forth. Seeing how these guys eventually pan out will be key. As far as grading prospects, I think it's only fair to gauge their long term potential as opposed to only their immediate results. In this, I would rate Reinhart as high as both of them. - TheSabresTaco
Tarasenko was thought of very highly for a long time. Toffoli is another A prospect and he too has been for a while.
Until Reinhart proves it in the NHL, he's not in their class, in my opinion. |

Score means goals or assists as his assists will lead to goals.
Agreed with everything you said about the type of player he could be. If he ended up being like Bergeron, that would be great. - kingcong39
I agree. But some people don't see it that way. |

agreed but he is only 27 and he has scored at least 30 goals in going on 7 straight years, if you average the lockout year for a full season - homiedclown
And at age 34 he'll be a cap hit of 8 mil. That cap hit makes it tougher to pay Risto, boths Z's, Reinhart, McEichel, Kane, and so on when the time comes.
A solid pass. |

For those against it Find me a consistent goal scorer who is:
1) Available
2) Scored 30 goals in what looks to be 7 straight seasons
3) Has a cheaper cap hit than $8MM
There are only so many teams that can take on that salary. |

Agreed Taco.
The way I look at it, unless the prospect is considered can't miss, I want to see at least a little hint at the NHL level before I call a prospect an A.
That is why I consider Reinhart a B+ right now, Armia and Grigorenko a B, and a bunch of the other Sabres prospects from B to B-. |

Youre right, I still dont see where youre having the disconnect on your end. Im not allowed to say it doesnt matter about the lost development time for Armia because we got the better player in the deal. Doesnt make any sense at all, even though that was your biggest worry in the trade.

If you have that opportunity to make that trade you do it and worry about the future later. |

Only 21 people have scored over 200 goals the last 8 seasons (this + last 7). Kessel is 7th, 1 goal behind Jeff Carter in 6th (Kessel has 232 goals, btw). He's also 2nd youngest in the top 7 (behind Stamkos) and only 3 others with 200+ goals in that time are his age (equal or 1 year younger). |

This is likely only my opinion, but I'd rather take the lower production from Sharp, Eriksson, or Zuccarello at the must reduced cost then the higher production at the massively higher cost of Kessel.
I do a deal like that for a true top D or top C, not a winger. |

Stewart - Gone
Benoit - gone
Kaleta - Gone
Starchan - Gone
Benoit - Gone
There is your $10MM to cover it short term.
Long term
Gionta - Gone
Gorges - Gone
Hodgons - Gone
Weber - Gone
There is an additional $13MM in salary to spread around.
The cap is going to go up in that time frame too.

I have been listening to nhl network on sirus a lot over the last few days and more analysts then not are saying the sabres got the best 2 players
They are all saying Myers has the talent but has yet to get it all together
Not a dig on Myers, just saying what is on the airways - homiedclown

Tarasenko was and Forsberg was a little behind him.
I factor in early production at the NHL level when grading prospects. |

Sharp is about to hit a wall IMO, Eriksson has 34 goals in his last 162 games and concussion issues, and I don't know much of Zuccarello so I'll leave that one alone. |

"Interesting" tidbit in relation to my post about 200+ goal scorers in the last 8 seasons....Kovalchuk is STILL on the list despite player 100+ games less than the majority of the other 20 players that high. Yowzah |

Zuccarello is good and underrated, along with being young.
Your points are valid about Sharp and Eriksson, although Sharp is producing well again this year, but I would rather have both of those for the short term while not having to give up that much as it will help next year and perhaps the year ahead without causing an issue for the team long term if some of their prospects develop quickly. |

And how many of the top 10 are reportedly available?
You want to rocket this rebuild, you get Kessel.
Kessel - McEichel - Kane
Moulson - Reinhart - Ennis
Foligno - Girgensons - Gionta
Deslauries - McCormick - ???
That is a playoff caliber forward group. |
