could be an all star player that can be bought low

tires should be kicked

- homiedclown

Then that is fine but when people mention giving up Ennis, Gringo, Comphre and picks, that's just crazy.

I like Kessel, just not his contract. I can live with the 8 mill a year just no so many of them.
- SABRES 89

if it was 4-5 years . I would be ok with it.

Two positives:

1) He just turned 27 so he would still be pretty young when it finished.

2) 8 mill won't look so bad four years from now.

Where it could get interesting is if Toronto held back salary in exchange for a better return. It could be years before they need the cap room.

If Kane is hurt or has another incident, do we improve?

We are banking on Kane doing a 180 off of the ice

- sbroads24

I have the identical mind set as you when it comes to that trade SB.

In all fairness like I explained to one of my sons last night when he asked me what I thought of the trade, I said to him that we may not know who won this trade for 3-4 years down the road.

If I had to bet though, I "believe" that we find out about Kane before 3-4 years.

I "believe" we will know as early as next year what Evander Kane we attained in what I honestly "believe" was an overpay on Murray's behalf.

By this time next year I "believe" we will know either way who won this deal, but not until then I "believe"

I don't believe it matters as much who won the trade if Kane and Bogosian help the bring the team a Stanley Cup.

Armia could produce 40 per year and Lemieux could produce 30 a year. At that point, I could care less.

Sylvester can be a dummy, eh? Thinks that Toews and Kane's SALARY is what will kill them. Meanwhile their salary is higher than their cap hit initially.

Both teams got what they wanted so no matter what, it works. We got a very good D man back and the young goal scorer they wanted and the Jets got more amo for the playoffs and the future.

the majority are saying Bogo is more consistent and thus the second best player in the trade
- homiedclown

I agree with this.

By the numbers from the past 4 seasons , Bogo has more points for an allegedly more offensively talented Myers.
The big bonus with Bogo is he is much better defensively and much tougher to play against.

If that were the trade straight up, Bogo for Myers, I "believe" that would have been a win for Murray.

Yes, because his production has been so stellar over the past 2 seasons?
- sbroads24

You really don't get the whole "fresh start" perspective of any of this do you?

I'm excited about seeing him play next year. He scored at a .65 ppg pace last year. That would have been first on the team. So, he's better than anything we had before the trade. And I'm all for getting better.

After what was just given up for Kane you don't think Kessel would get more?

Players may like playing for him because he is their buddy. Its like the guy you would rather have a drink with then be your boss.

Its no secrete that Nolan is not a System coach, and it shows.

- ImThatGuy

False.

Paul Hamilton squashed that fallacy the other day at their "round table" discussion on GR
But you are certainly welcome to keep beating that drum.

To be more accurate, what shows is the extreme lack of talent the man has to work with.
That's "what shows".

edit: by the way did you ever answer my question about Jacques Demers?

Did you think he was a good coach?

You know that it's a good deal when both sides are a little unhappy.

We have generated 50 pages in 2 days, and everyone has basically acknowledged there is a chance the deal improves the chance the Sabres win a cup. That's enough for me to be satisfied with it.

(Plus Yost liked it.).
