I had to stop paying attention when they asked about the Lemieux not signing with Buffalo rumor - can you tell me what Bob said?
- stashu

He really didn't have an answer on specifics but did say there's alot of chatter back and forth between agents and teams and he didn't seem to buy into the idea that Lemieux didn't want to sign here.

No, but the subtractions probably would.

For poops and giggles, here are 2 trading scenarios I could see Toronto entertaining:

Buf 1st 2015
Zadorov, Girgensons, STL 1st

I'd hate both of those. What do you think it would take to get him?

- nfph

I honestly have no clue.

It depends on who else is bidding, who can afford it, what Toronto thinks its needs are.

The apparently major insider who broke the Kane trade (and Tallinder back when) that people praised has said how he is horrible, a joke, etc. I take that guy's word, and I'm a huge skeptic on "insiders"

I want to see quotes from Hall of Famers that praise Nolan as a great coach before I'd believe it. Lafontaine does nothing for me with his opinion anymore.

- stashu

I understand he has no players right now, but he has no track record of success when he does have players. I just don't understand the appeal

You also, IMO need to give Murray some time! Guy makes a ballsie trade, luv it! Let it play out, we could wait until the trade deadline and get Bob Corkum for faceoffs!

Thank you sir. Had a co-worker at my door, so I couldn't quite pay attention for all of it.

Yikes, I dunno man, find me a person who is on his 3rd contract (my guess is Kessel is on his, can't confirm though) and makes less but puts up as much production

8 million per for 7 more seasons...

I bought into the hype when he was hired, so I'm not pretending I was against it from the start. 2 years in now though and the players look like poop! I'm not talking about the team putting up numbers, but as others point out - the lack of effort and heart - the things Nolan is "known for"....yikes.

I wouldn't mind Kessel the player. However, Kessel's contract plus whatever assets it would require to land him makes me want to pass. Now, should Toronto buy him out, then get your ass to the front of the line, Mr. Murray!

Yes please! He's still only going to be 34 when it expires!! Sharp is that old mid 15/16 season and people want him now! To me, it's a no-brainer, but as I stated over the last week or so since I've talked about Kessel - I want that 1 great goal scorer on my team.

Before my time and I don't know enough about him to say yes or no. Unless you're trying to hire him, I don't see the reference.

Nolan has not advanced past the 1st round on any team, has one Jack Adams trophy to show for it all, and a losing record before last year, Multiple players are having career worst years but yet he's apparently a great coach. Unless I'm missing something, he's got nothing to back that up.

Look at the talent on this team.

When people say that it just makes me want to bang their heads off of a wall to make sure they are awake.

I mean wow, I really do not understand how such "avid" fans do not see that?

It is a true mystery to me and genuinely baffles me.

if they got him and the first pick

that top line produces 90 goals a year for the next 5 years

a second line of moulson, reinhart and ennis puts up another 50 goals a year

a fresh girgens playing on the third line gets 40 goals with gringo and player x

boom

Get Hanzel from Arizona? Currently out for the season. Would Darcy want a shinny second round pick? lol

Let me put the Kessel debate into perspective.

Kessel is 1 year older than Patrick Kane. Kane has scored 30 goals ONCE in his career. Kessel has done it 5 times.

Kane will soon be making 10.5 million per season and plays with better players than Kessel.

I continue to want to have that player (either one) on my team.

Edited my goof where I said Kessel was the younger - I knew it, but messed up

Anything? Everything?

I'd start at Grigorenko, STL 1st, our 1st next year (conditional based on playoff success as Murray likes to throw those in, minimum of a 2nd)+ one of Fasching/Bailey/Baptiste. Add as needed.

Then if they add Clarkson, they have to take Hodgson.

You act like this team is full of players that have accomplished absolutely nothing in this league. There are plenty of players on this roster that have done good (albeit not great) things in this league. For all of them to collectively put up this kind of a stinker is unacceptable, and to suggest they all suddenly became devoid of all talent whatsoever thus handcuffing the coach is laughable.

No way.

Not sure what it would take but I would start with Stewart and Gringo +.

i'd take Kessel. I wouldn't want to trade what it will take to get him though. Especially not to the Leafs.
