Has nothing to do with Pysyk? I've had PCS, so I know how messed up it is (and how long it lasts) but that's kind of making an excuse for his poor play. He doesn't have to lift the team to a playoff contender. But I haven't heard anything good about him this year, or now that I think of it, ever. Just people being high on him and liking him as a prospect.

Actually, it does. If the goalie isn't on his game, there's only so much the defense can do. Trust me, I was at a game the Lieuwen played in, it was bad.

He's not playing poorly. You don't even know because you're taking what someone else said. I actually follow Rochester and his play has been just fine. Besides, if you want to point to Pysyk playing poorly in Rochester, then you need to point at McCabe for playing poorly as well, seeing as how they're on the same team.

Pysyk is the type of guy that can play the whole game and then leave you asking if he was out there at all. For a defensive minded defenseman, that's the goal. That means he didn't make any huge glaring mistakes.

Quiet, reliable, and consistent.

- HonkFortheGoose

Yes, I hear that description made of his game all the time.

I guess I want the guy that you know is out there and rattles the boards with every check he makes?

Pysyk was reportedly extremely disappointed when he was sent down (Rightfully so)

That could also have something to do with it.

Don't have to do that in order to be a good defenseman.

I'm not exactly basing my opinion on what someone else said. I always read the threads here and several people have pointed out his poor play. I'm going on a board of Sabres fans' opinion but I really don't know. If you say he looks fine and you follow Ro-cha-cha then so be it but you're one of the few I've seen this year saying he looks fine.

Which is why I am surprised you thought the Sabres overpaid for Kane and Bogosian

Both of those players are those types...

So is Deslauriers another one of TM's guys

I get what goose is saying. It's like an offensive tackle in football the less you hear their name the better sometimes.

Guess like Pysyk don't hurt you and are certainly valuable

Yeah. I heard that as well. But he's not playing poorly. He's played 47 games, has 3 goals, 13 assists and is a +4. He's never been touted as an offensive guy, so those numbers don't scare me at all.

PK36? That's what you think it takes to be a winner?

Oh I like Pysyk.

Goose is 100% right.

I just prefer McCabe a shade more.

And, if you're playing the body, you're not playing the puck, which delays getting it out of the zone. Pysyk is a going to go into the corner and use positioning to get the puck, make a good outlet pass, and allow the rest of the guys on the ice to work their magic.

Why does everyone want to give up so much for Kessel ? the Leafs want him gone. His contract is horrible, make them take Hodsgon a player and a pick, screw the Leafs.

I never had a problem with Sekera.

But, no. Actually, he's not. Sekera was supposed to be more of an offensive defenseman.

I always thought Sekera was more resposible defensively but expected to put up better numbers. Idk, I just thought I always heard of Pysyk described as a TWD.

Because that's not going to get it done and you know it.

Winnipeg wanted Kane gone look what Murray paid.

Kessel's contract is not horrible.

He is a PPG player he gets paid like one. Plain and simple. If you are worried about resigning McEichel, Reinhart and Risto don't be...Chicago makes it work with Kane, Toews, Sharp, and Hossa and has 2 cups to prove it.

That type of game is needed for the recipe I "believe".

It is a part of Momma's sauce that would not be complete without it.

I gave up arguing the point. I was listening to 590 on the way home and even the hosts were saying that he the Leafs will probably have to hold salary to trade him at all. They had an excellent point - people overpay guys because they believe someone else will pay hom that money. There is no way he is an 8 mill a year player and no way Phaneuf is a 7 mill player. You can't build your team that way.

The problem is that Kessel isn't Toews or Kane but he is paid like them. As the hosts on 590 pointed out, you bring in a Kessel as the last piece. But you can't pay the last piece 8 mill a year. The Hawks don't pay Hossa or Sharp that money and that is part of the reason it works.

A top 10 goal scorer in the NHL is not an 8MM dollar guy? He scores more goals then Pat Kane, Kane gets 10MM per year.

Kessel has scored 30 goals for 7 straight years.

Phaneuf is not a 7 million player but Kessel is absolutely an 8 million player.

I posted stats to back it up comparing him to Kane who is about to be a 10.5 million a year player...

Is Kessel as dynamic as Kane? No but he is a better skater and is a PPG player. Certainly worth the contract

That will get it done or let some other team take him on, Christ and people were complaining with the Kane trade but they want to give up the farm for Kessel. We wil be right back to square one with this team if we make deals like this.

And would you take him over PKane? Absolutely not. He is not a team building block and thus can not be paid like one.
