I would kick the tires on Kessel. I'm browsing, not buying today. Murray has said numerous times that the Cap # would make more players available from other teams. Buffalo will have cap space. Chicago, LA, NYR to name a few will have RFA's and UFA's that they can't keep and stay at the cap.

If I were a gambling man, this deadline will get the Sabres a couple picks and maybe a prospect or 2. Draft Day and this summer will be where teams will look to unload for prospects and picks. This is when you do the buying for this team. You never know who could be available.

when the points are scored matters. when the team is slumping and on a big losing streak is typically when he goes cold. He's a very skilled player who can go cold for long periods of time. Doesn't strike me as someone too interested in being a good team guy either.

What we are looking at is Big picture

Kane - McEichel - Kessel
Moulson - Reinhart - Ennis
Foligno - Girgensons - Gionta

That is a damn good top 9

Because Toronto doesn't know how to build a team properly...they paid Kessel and Phaneuf all that money and didn't have any real core players which the Sabres have...

The Sabres aren't building around Kessel they are adding him to what is being built...that plus Kessel can't get along with Toronto media and who can blame him

- Stripes77

You have to build around a guy to whom you pay 8 mill. You are making my point. He is a dynamic, exciting complimentary player. You don't hear that kind of stuff being said about Toews and Kane. I'd get Toronto to pay 2 mill a year.

Kanes production has a lot to do with Toews.

This is exactly what teams will do. Did they do the same when EKane became available? No, they went after him hard. That is what you do with franchise players.

It probably does. So why does Toews make all that money since Kessel is a bigger "Producer"? Hmmmmm

Yes they went hard after him because he was the initial target. It started out as conversations. It wasn't a one day thing.

Kessel will be sought after, don't try to say he wont be.

Because he is a Center.

Man I wish we could get a top 2 pick this year to get a franchise Center to go with a guy like Kessel.

On a different note. I heard Phoenix was listening to offers for OEL. What do you think it would take to get him?

To Ari: Bflos 2016 1st round and Pysyk
To Bflo: OEL

Or how about our 2nd 1st this year and next year's 1st?

Maybe forget OEL and trade our 2nd 1st this year and next year's 1st for their 1st this year.

I am sure they would want as many chances they can get at Matthews.

Kane was freaking out for the year and teams lined up. Kessel is a massive "producer" ready to help a team now.

And there it is. The Buffalo blue collar notion.
- ImThatGuy

I am going to take a guess.

The posters that incessantly whine about this "blue collar notion or mentality" do not work blue collar jobs right?

Just curious.

This is a good post

The Sabres will move Stewart and a few other UFA's and load up on more picks and prospects

If the Sabres turn Stewart and a 3rd into a 1st then you have 3 first round picks again.

Would Toronto bite at the draft for say 19th and 22nd overall and say a guy like McCabe for Kessel? Perhaps have to sweeten it a bit?

Nice job! Perfect post.......... This isn't NHL XBOX, looking at what TM did with a trade like this open's up maybe avenues and possibilities

Give the Kessel talk a break.

Heard on GR's break that Winipeg are getting calls about Myers. I don't see why this would be news unless they were actually listening. I expect them to not make the playoffs as the teams behind them are better.

Seeing that Stewart is an UFA at seasons end do you see him coming back here next season?
He gets traded to a playoff contending team ala Moulson and is told let me get a few pieces for you and then we will talk come summer time about your return? Wink wink.
