The fact is they have played like the team we thought they would resemble in 4 of the last 5 games, but those 5-4 and 4-3 wins should have been 5-1 and 4-1 if they played the 3rd the way they played the 1st and 2nd.
They're coming around, i like what i see for the most part. - canadianpenfan
You also have to remember Det and Ott both started terrible so Pitt playing at that level is unrealistic. In the Det game after about half way through the rest on the game was fairly even. The only period pitt looked bad was in the 3rd last night and hopefully that was because they were tired and Ott was rested

I really do not believe he can get 3 mil or more anywhere after this season, even hitting 25 goals.
Three knocks against him, in my mind, is injury prone, the sub par seasons after having 2 great seasons, and the Malkin effect. - Guile
Your knocks are right, but poopty teams are going to gamble. The important thing is that the Pittsburgh organization keeps those knocks in mind and pays him accordingly because we are not those poopty teams. |

znagle hit it on the head. Look at what Glass and Engelland got. They did nothing and received what?

87 is just under 1.1 ppg pace, Kane is at 1.1 ppg. I was listening to MM yesterday and Yohe said there were 21 games this season where 87 is pointless, most in his career. They said he spent 45 mins on the ice after practice several times in the past few weeks and brought up the argument. At what point is it counterproductive? What does he really need to work on at this point in his career? I think they even said MJ forced him off the ice at one point. So for all the arguments that Sid doesn't care this year, this would prove other wise, but how much are these slumps in his head? Do you even enjoy the sport at that point? |

Adding scoring depth and helping out the PP doesn't serve a purpose ? He recently said he's willing to take a lesser roll. Put him with Sutter if you don't want to split up the top 6. MAYBE he can help the 3rd lines possesion time - willi
Putting Jagr with Sutter? JJ will really experience "dying alive"... |

id love that. sign me up.
i worry that might not be enough though. - stayinthefnnet
Just saying that's the most i would give him, if someone wants to give him more he can be their mistake.
I'm a huge fan of Comeau this year, but the sample size of poor hockey is far greater than good. |

Sure they got that but you don't think the other teams notice what a terrible return the flames and rangers are getting. Both have been healthy scratches this year

Trading valuable assets for rentals doesn't give with me. Sorry. A 42 year old former superstar that once was a stud in Pittsburgh doesn't excite me regarding a return because he serves no purpose after this year. If I'm spending assets, which we don't have many of at this stage, I want longer term solutions, not rentals. - Oneonta Penguin
I don't get the Jagr fascination either... I like Jagr, I always have. I still like watching him play hockey. But I have no desire to acquire him. I don't see a fit on this roster, and I don't want to give up the assets that it would take.
I'm not big on any rentals, but there are a handful of guys who I'd take before Jagr.

Bad contracts for bad players have existed for ever. Tanner Glass and Deryk Engelland aren't going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back that'll make GMs go "Ohhhhh.... Now I get it...." |

Exactly. I'm amazed he is still playing and producing at his age. Credit to him. I certainly admired him when he was in Pittsburgh. However, its time to move on. Lou, who I think all the sudden is one of the worst GMs in the game, will be looking for a pretty steep price tag for him. I have seen people on this board willing to offer
Dumoullin or even Harrington for him, which is asinine. Let someone else overpay. I don't see a fit either.

Difference is that those two did nothing at all in Pittsburgh. Comeau on the other hand is lighting it up and has been all year. |

What was the 4-3 win? - PensFan1103
The Detroit game just felt like it was 4-3.
I wasn't actually referencing any particular game in that post, just the fact that they are getting outplayed in the 3rd when they have the lead because they sit back too much. |

I would go up to 3, but no more than that. I would probably do 2 years at 3 or 3 years at 2.5. Just watching him play with Malkin, he has so much confidence and they seem to gel so well together. I think if we can lock up a winger with Malkin like that for 3 million you do it. |

anyone else see Old Man Ruth looking pissed in the pressbox last night after we blew that lead? besides the fact it was pretty late for him to be awake, I really wonder what his mindset is approaching the TDL. I think Sutter is the big wildcard, is he going to try to bring in a cheap 3rd line rental? or look for a real shakeup in the bottom 6 |

Point to Sill’s one goal and one assist as a negative on the season if you want to, but how can one deny his impact on the fourth-line?
Ok, I will. - canadianpenfan
Wow, do yourselves a favor and read the comments. He tries to defend Sill's 2 points by saying Arcobello only had 2 points with the Pens as well with no mention of the fact that Arcobello played 10 games while Sill played 40, my god this is ridiculous.
I thought the Hockey Writers was somewhat reputable. But this has to be some of the worst garbage I have ever read. |
