I'v seen no one complain about Ennis. He has been the best player on this team by far. - Cheeseballin
Oh, people complain. Everyone is quick to ship him out of here. I don't get it, because I like him. He's probably the one player we have that's actually good at puck possession. |
|
|
|
I have no doubt he can. Its the cost involved in seeing if he can - sbroads24
But we could afford the cost when you actually seriously think about it.
Bailey, Baptiste for sure and Compher, Fasching to lesser extent as prospects all make Lemieux expendable. In fact I'd say 3 of the 4 have a higher ceiling than Lemieux.
Murray came out and said theres a huge drop off after pick 19 in this draft. I dont think he loses much by trading away the later of the other 1sts. He can still use the middle pick + 31 to get back into the lower end before the drop off.
Stafford was a UFA. If he doesnt re-sign in WPG, its a wash.
Armia is the only one who could possibly break the deal definitively in WPG favor in my opinion. And thats if he becomes better than Kane. I honestly dont think its highly likely. I'd be very surprised if he did. We got a player who has played in the NHL since he was 18, did put up one 30 goal season, and plays a better all around game than Armia to play in our top 6.
I dont think at the end of the day we overpaid at all, except in swapping Myers and Bogo, but we've beat that horse beyond recognition. |

He is the only player we have that can possess the puck consistently. |

Im not even billing him as a 35-40 goal scorer right away no matter who he plays with. I've heard that "he'll be an X goal scorer with a legit #1" too many times over the last 8 years to buy into that argument. He hasnt shown a consistency to even hit 20. And it really bothers me that through 6 seasons he only has 32 PP points.
- theblueandgold
It's not even just a "legit 1C". It's a possible generational 1C. If McEichel pan out, Kane will be scoring at least 30. |

Pretty sure he was. I don't even know where you'd go to find that information, but I'm fairly certain he was a scratch last year.
As far as injury goes, Myers has missed his fair share of time due to injury as well. I posted something about this the other day. Myers has missed like 16% of his games due to injury and Bogosian was at like 24%. |

The 1st rounder could end up being packaged to move up. Armia coukd be a stud. Zadorov could be a bust and then we are looking for a defensemen like Myers. A lot could go either way |

Is Fausching all that good? I ask because I wasn't all that impressed with him in the WJC this year but 4 games hardly makes or breaks a player? For those who have seen him, who's his game like? |

There's a lot of unknowns.
Darcy, is that you? Because this is exactly the reasoning as to why he didn't make trades very often |

I agree on the 1st as it could have been used to add another good young NHLer. If you talk the 1st out, I like the trade. |

Hope he is around for a while too. He would be amazing with good linemates. |

Wow, really? I thought he played really well in the WJC. His line was probably the best one the USA had. A lot of their success came from him making space on the ice for his linemates.
As far as the type of game he plays, remember when Foligno came up his first year? That's the kind of game he plays. Drives hard to the net, not afraid to get physical. Will get goals because he goes to the dirty areas.
He's already gone through the part of his career where he's tried to play more like a high skill player and it's part of why he fell in the draft. I think he knows where his bread and butter is. I like the kid. |

Darcy traded. He just wasnt stupid about it. We dont know yet if Murray is. It could end up being great, that doesnt mean I cant have an opinion differing the majority on it |

For some reason I just expected more from him but not knowing what his strengths are probably lessened my opinion of him. |

The thing is we got a guy that still probably hasn't hit his ceiling yet, but is much more NHL ready than anyone they shipped out. If you were fine with this rebuild taking another 3 or 4 years, I guess it was a dumb trade. But Murray is trying to speed the process up, and because of the amount of $$ he has to play with (aka the # of prospects we have), he made a move to do so. He has said all along that this was the plan. Take the huge amount of resources that he's been given, and try to turn this ship around. |

It's three full days later and you're still saying pretty much the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
You made your point at one of the first five overs.
Can we move on? |
