You do know that WPG is playing Myers on their top pairing, right? - theblueandgold
So far...one game does not a trend make.
Good for him/them fine stays there.
I'm good with the trade |

Trouba and Buff are the top pair
Myers is playing with Enstrom
it's splitting hairs because they play both groups about the same, but Trouba and Buff are their top pair

They do still play Buff on the wing some games though. |

Then why is Kessel typically over the past few years produced more with less. - RogerRoeper
Kessel scores more... But Kane has the other stuff to back up his legacy.
Two cups
Conn Smythe
Game winning goal for the cup
Currently leads the NHL
Going just by stats isn't the best way to rate a player.
Ask anyone who they would rather have. The majority would easily say Kane without question |

These three can single handedly take control of games. Kessel will float around and score goals when someone gets the puck into the o-zone, because he's not going to get it. Kane's one of the best possession guys in the game and he and Ovie are both being lauded for their improvement in their defensive game. Goal scorers trophies or not, if Kessel is so good, where are his? Don't give me this 'but he plays for the leafs' excuse. Ovie didn't have a lot of talent around him when he beat out Crosby for the Calder. And Hart trophies aren't just handed out to the highest scorer. - adambuffalo

They are totally different type of players, you cant compare their styles. But if I was given the option, I'd pick Kane 10 times out of 10. |

Why? What is it about physical play thats so endearing that its a MUST HAVE? Keith nor Subban are overly physical. Top pairing D have great skating, good at puck retrieval and moving it up the ice. Solid defensively by using positioning and active sticks. Not by checking and being overly physical.
The game has far from shifted from the bruising 70's and 80's "clearing the net" play from defenseman.
(Myers had 4 times as many hits as Keith ) - theblueandgold
It isn't an either or proposition. fact is you need both types on your D.
Here the benefits of physical play while still being a very good stay at home DMan...eventually the opposition stops coming down your side, they hesitate going into the dirty areas...it is intimidation...in whatever form you can deliver it and ONE way to do so is being physical tough, nasty...being a bully that nobody is eager to go against. That doesn't constitute being one dimensional as many seem to imply with the sillyass comments of "does he punch people in the face" which is so immature and extreme it just makes the quoted lose all credibility IMO.
Sort of like why Rodgers didn't go toSherman's side the entire game in the regular season...he was intimidated by the potential results...kind of what made Tim Horton so valuable...no he didn't have to fight..nobody wanted to and they went to the other side of the ice...FACT. |

this times 10
If it's game 7 and I am up a goal, I want Kane on the ice
If it's game 7 and I am down a goal, I want Kane on the ice
They are both super talented players in their own way though |

Tobias Enstrom and Bogosian were their top pairing all season. They put Myers with Enstrom on top pairing, and finally moved Buff back to D (he was playing forward) in the middle pairing
http://scores.espn.go.com...boxscore?gameId=400564718
ES TOI
Myers - 16:11
Enstrom - 16:08
Buff - 15:34
Trouba - 13:19

And he'll look good playing 1-4 minutes...like I said, good for him. I was not a Myers hater nor lovers...more meh, he is what he is...wouldn't have minded keeping him.
Now that we have Bogo with a different dimension, I'll enjoy it. |

I dont know what all this babble is, but being physical has no bearing on whether a player is going to go into the corners or drive down your side. lol what. |

Again, you conveniently assume being physical means one dimensional, ala John Scott....I think when you ponder it a bit more, you'll realize all teams strive for a nice mix. Bogo and Myers have SI,ilat stats..Myers a tad bit more O...but lesser on Defense? I like Bogo's toughness and physicality...the same I like in Kane... I believe the Sabres where tilted to the gentler side on D hence why I'm happy for the trade.
Btw, no need to attack with immature comments. |

I watched the Notre Dame/Providence game last night, well about 2 periods of it until this old man fell asleep.
I really liked what I saw from Peterson.
If there was one thing I saw that I did not like, it was his rebound control, but mostly I was impressed with his play.
Did not see nor hear too much from Hurley.
From what I recall, he was not even on the first 2 PP units for the Irish.
Not sure why.
From Providence Anthony Florentino looked okay, took 2 penalties that I know of, wasn't too impressed with his play.
Just wondering if anyone else had watched it last night.
I believe there is a rematch tonight on NBCSN again this evening for anyone interested in watching a few of our prospects. |
