If they can re-sign Boychuk and Leddy to long term deals, if Halak holds up for the majority of his contract and players like Reinhart and Pulock become full time NHLers, the window is pretty wide.

Getting Boychuck and leddy locked up is huge and I'm pretty confident they will. As far as Halak goes we need to bring in a good Back up. Maybe even closer to a 1b type of guy IMO.

Who's downplaying the previous three games here?

The Islanders are a very good hockey team; last night's results didn't change that fact. The Rangers are a good team too though and the fact both are very good, in the same season, make things very interesting around here.

No need to throw the same old lack of cups rhetoric around to prove your point.

Maybe it isn't you. I am here to vent. If I saw one bonehead post I could easily write it off as just another idiot but it's numerous posts(maybe not here) that are killing me. One actually said this game was " the closest to a playoff game that the islanders have played in a while." What about the game 3 weeks ago? The intensity was just as big and the playoff atmosphere just as apparent. Plus the isles played and very well could've beat the pens in the playoffs 2 seasons ago. ( still don't know why not one soul remembers that series and the way the islanders played. Brings me to another point which is that the islanders being good this year is really no surprise they showed signs of this but changed up the team last year and now they've rebounded from that. Also Islander fans "coming out of the woodwork" is just an unreal and pointless notion. Coliseum has been packed out and crazy several times over the years and when you have a winning team it obviously will be at another level. Fans just talk more when they win. Happens with every single pro sports team that rises up.)

To get back on track. This guy posted so many times and had other fans agreeing and adding on with the same type of stuff. It's just insufferable to read some of it. As an Islander fan my agenda is simply to defend the team and to prove that they are equals. Will never claim they are gods gift or superior but will argue when ranger fans claim that their team is and go ahead and degrade the isles like they're a team that accomplishes nothing.

You have a great team, and you are going to be good for years. I am hoping for a fun run of hating each other for years, not literally of course.

Take care, my friend.

They are good and they should be good for quite sometime. Team is generally young and has a good mix of veterans as well. No need to lose your cool over some ignorant fans, every fan base has them, but there are good fans too.

That’s one very good thing the Isles have going for them is that the cap is under control, everyone on the roster we want to keep is under contract or an rfa except boychuk and we have prospects who should make an impact next season as well. We’re a young team and in great shape for long term success. There’s a number of teams who will need to make decisions that will result in losing players due to the cap crunch they’re in after this season. Chicago, Boston, the Rangers…lot of teams who will be looking to find a way to not get weaker while making decisions on which players to move or let walk.

This is why when I see other isles fans talk about trading reinhart or dal colle with a ufa coming back I shake my head. All that does is ruin our chances at long term success. We still have holes to fill this season and our coaching staff is an issue, but it’s year one of what should be a very good team for a long time now – if we don’t see any milbury-type moves.

Probably because he got shelled like French town in WWII.

You totally missed the point there. In case you didn't know, Talbot is the Rangers backup; not like Halak there on your end.
