Oh I agree, if that happened I would hate to be Noah Hanifin or anyone else taken #3 for that matter. They would be resented from day 1.

I heard Murray interviewed last year before the trade deadline and he said a GM can manipulate how a team finishes based on moves they make at the deadline when he basically insinuated how a GM can help a team finish worse. He knows what he's doing.

Seriously, with what I've seen of Stewart for the last month or 2 since he was benched, wouldn't he be someone who might fit into our longer term plans? He's as good as gone as a rental now, but maybe we make a play for him after the year is over? I doubt he's going to get Moulson (or even Stafford) type money thrown at him over the summer.

Don't worry friends. The Devils are an inept team in roster purgatory. A few average kids, a pile of expired vets and a dust bowl farm system. Our performance vs them last night should not let you judge or defensive talent of this team. Once we start playing even below average teams, we'll get pummeled as planned.

But I definitely want to be fighting for playoff hockey in 2 years, and contending in 4. I think if we get McEichel, and with proper development of the rest of our kids, and a shrewd trade(s) and/or FA signings, and if we identify a goalie, I think this is possible, if not likely.

Plus if we get eichel instead of mcdavid could take an extra year. Despite what the media wants you to think. Mcdavid is df the better prospect

I'm sure it is. But everyone seems to not care all are best players will only be 18-20 years old. To think they will lead the team to the playoffs will be a stretch. Rushing young guys is never the proper way to develop them. Eichel and Reinhart are not Crosby. They will not be scoring 100 pets next year. Stupid lottery and only 20% chance at mcdavid :/

Let Enroth stay gone now that he is, I doubt they go into next year with a rookie backup.

He is interested in bringing back Enroth and will be with Stewart too. That being said though it'll be an interesting time for Neuvy. If he can't be a starter I see Hackett potentially coming up or a trade or FA are options too of course

I think we'll be better next year but playoffs are lofty. Maybe a year or two after we can think more about that with better players in the lineup. All really depends who we target in FA. Eichel is our guy at draft most likely. D is good enough to bring up kids slowly like Pysyk and then later McCabe and Ruhwedel. I don't think Subban is here although that'd be great
