Sure Kessel would be an impact trade, but don't think it would be a positive impact. |

Oilers are keeping yak. Has less trade value but still has potential to be better than Ederle. Plus he will have a cheaper contract and has been playing better - Fattony1187
Playing better.. he's got Myers' syndrome. Playing a better defensive game and losing the ability to score. It's fine for a defenseman. |

Do tell. And I should note I'm not a radical 'grab kessel' guy. Also, please include how Yakupov would help but Kessel would hurt. |

There is a laundry list of reasons not to get Kessel. The only reason to get him is he scores goals. |

Kessel is a top line player no doubt but, the Sabres going after him makes no sense, his contract is horrible as is Dion's. Some team will overpay for him. |

Myself, Homie and DD I believe said to trade for Marleau a while ago. - SABRES 89
the problem is a lot of these players we wanted, were 3/4 years ago when a rebuild on the fly was a viable option
darcy was so clueless the last 4 years, IMO once he sat on his ass when Peggy took over, nothing could be done on the fly
after saying that, a few older vets would be the good addition, but they need to be the right vets
getting gorges was a good move, but expecting him to play 25 minutes is an epic blunder
getting gionta for 15 minutes a night on the third line is a good move, but expecting him to play 21 minutes per game is a big blunder
marleau for 18 minutes a night is a good thing, for a few years |

Alrite I'm going to set the table here. Your logic is not making any sense. Yes, Kessel is a one dimensional forward. Ok, fine. But he has 7 30 goal seasons. This allows him to not have to play a 2 way game. Reinhart, Girgensons, Ennis, Foligno, Kane, McEichel, Gionta, Deslauriers, and prospects Compher, Fasching, Baptiste, Bailey, even Girgorenko are becoming or are 2 way forwards. If you have supreme skill at being one dimensional goal scorer, for a team that has the inability to supply goals, how does Kessel not make sense. Yakupov is as bad as Kessel and can't score. He's like Hodgson. Hodgson has zero use to this team. Zero.
I'm not saying it needs to be Kessel coming in here. All I'm saying is this team can support a high output 1D scoring machine. |

I would sign Marleau in a heartbeat IMO. Darcy was to afraid to do anything in case he lost. |

7 straight season of 30 goals or more...... - ImThatGuy
He is a top tier goal scorer in this league but.........
This statement has become like the Tim Connolly is a ppg player because he came close to it once.
Phil Kessel has not scored 30 goals in 7 straight season. Just stop with this fallacy. Plus there is no guarantee he scores 30 this year.
And don't give me a prorated bs line either. You either have or you haven't and he hasn't.

Depending on what teams do in the offseason,
This is how I see the east...
Playoff teams:
Montreal, Tampa, Detroit, Pittsburgh
Likely in:
Ny Rangers, Washington
Fighting for a spot:
Columbus, Boston, Florida, Ny Isles
Clear misses:
Buffalo, Carolina, Ottawa, Philadelphia
Bottom of the Barrel:
Toronto, New Jersey - jdfitz77
So now the team that's been leading the division for most of the season and the conference for different parts of the year is fighting for a playoff spot next season with Columbus and Boston(who will probably be much worse next season)? |

Still looks like a child. I won't pretend to guess where the Isles will fall next year. But they don't have enough history to tell me they'll be in the same position next year as they are this year. It is the Isles after all. |
