the problem is a lot of these players we wanted, were 3/4 years ago when a rebuild on the fly was a viable option

darcy was so clueless the last 4 years, IMO once he sat on his ass when Peggy took over, nothing could be done on the fly


after saying that, a few older vets would be the good addition, but they need to be the right vets

getting gorges was a good move, but expecting him to play 25 minutes is an epic blunder

getting gionta for 15 minutes a night on the third line is a good move, but expecting him to play 21 minutes per game is a big blunder

marleau for 18 minutes a night is a good thing, for a few years

Problem was players like marleau didn't want to sign in buffalo. Remember Richards? Tpegs opened up his wallet and didn't want to play here. Our retool on the fly was leino and erhoff. I'm sure Darcy would of loved a marleau. A lot of players around the league think buffalo sucks to live in until they actually move here

It doesn't take long to look up articles on how Phil Kessel comes to camp out of shape (and self admitted he doesn't work out in the offseason) or how he told coaches he doesn't want to (and won't) run certain plays or drills. Watching any game he's in and you can see he only plays hockey in one zone. I think it's insulting to Bill Masterton that Kessel was given this award for his "perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey."

Which I have said numerous times that he is a top tier goal scorer.

Trading between divisional teams tends to be more costly.

He is one dimensional.

His contract sucks IMO.

His contract dictates what you'll need to pay the kids when the time comes.

There is a reason Toronto may look to move him and it's he doesn't fit their rebuilding plans. When a guy at 27 signed long term isn't part of your long term plans a red flag goes up IMO. I'll stand by my statement and pass on Kessel 10 of 10 times.

that's a horrible argument..... all that matters is goals/game. if your scoring .36 goals/ game your scoring 30 goals a season in a normal healthy season. and hes passed that every year
