Honestly I did not think the Nucks needed to add Miller, but rather a complementary piece to go with Lack


He will be a UFA in 16 months, so what is the market for Lack for 1 season?

I bet we could wait till FA.. he'll want to go to a place where he can potentially start. Goalie market is incredibly thin. I bet we could sign him if we wanted to.

Though he is likely to miss out on the Calder, wouldn't it be interesting to see Johnny Gaudreau win the Lady Byng as a rookie? In 57 games he has 15g 28a and just took his 1st penalty of the year on Monday. Not sure if a rookie ever one it.

I think you'd have to give above market value to get him but if they can agree on an extension before hand he and neuvirth could be a solid 1a 1b even if its only short term.

Thomas Greiss wouldn't be a bad option for goalie. Never had a shot to contend for a starting job and he would be able to get a lot of starts here even if we go with a 2 goalie system.

he is a solid option.. but i would like to take a shot on someone younger for the long term fix.. such as ramo, lack, allen, pickard, campbell..etc

I don't think we'll be getting another team's young goalie via trade. Those teams have no reason to trade guys like Subban or Lack and I would think the Flames re-sign Ramo.

My guess is we'll go with Neuvirth and one of the UFA goalies, possibly Niemi, Gustavsson or Emery. If the Wild don't re-sign Dubnyk, we should make a strong pitch for him. I'd love a tandem of Neuvirth and Dubnyk.

I understand wanting younger, but I believe Ramo is the only FA on that list and he's only a year younger I think. Greiss has the 4th best GAA over the past 2 years (minimum 30 starts). Could have him for a good 4 years and at that point he would be 32 and hopefully one of our younger guys will be the guy.

Niemi's hit now is 4M, I could see a team easily giving him 5. Not sure that's a great move for Buffalo at this point - especially without seeing what the goaltending situation could be like with an actual NHL roster in the future.

I do like him as a goaltender though, just not sure spending big money on a goalie is wise at this point.

Good point. I'm not sure what other teams will have a bigger need in goal than the Sabres will have this summer and if Murray is intent on accelerating this re-build, will he get a stop gap in Emery for 2 years or throw a big contract at a guy like Niemi? My preference will be Dubnyk. If we can't get him, go for Emery for a few years while Ullmark gets his playing time in Rochester.

Dubnyk might cost in the pocket book and Lack might cost in another way, i'd pass on Svedberg but have no problem with any of the others including Dubnyk and Lack.
