Maybe so...
But there's absolutely NO WAY Pegula would allow a guy to be hired with the intention of firing him in a year... No chance
He just doesn't conduct business that way
Going forward, who knows?
But Nolan will be the coach to start next season

- jdfitz77

Actually, I never said "one year".

My point, and I was trying to get this across to 89, is that Nolan wasn't Murray's guy. It was just too convenient to keep him, knowing that the team was probably going to be bad.

My point with that statement is (and I hope I convey my thoughts properly) why would Murray bring in the guy he really wanted - and "waste" a couple years of him being here on a bad team - if there was a chance he may have to fire him when the team on the ice failed. Why not keep Nolan (he was already here), and when the team is bad, he can let him go and not look back.

I may be wrongly painting Murray as cold, or the bad guy here.

It's not Teddy's fault, either. Just bad timing.

And you, and 89, may be right. He may be here to start the year. And that's fine. However, just like the roster, I think Murray has a plan for coach, too.

Seems a bunch of teams are now in tank mode or will be by the deadline . Good thing we started early.

I still have a feeling that there is some sort of "agreement." if you guys remember, it took a while for Teddy to sign and GMTM made the remark that he didn't want anyone here that didn't want to be here. If I were to guess, the agreement is that it's common knowledge the team was going to suck this year. but if Nolan weathers it and actually motivates next years team, it's a win-win. If not, he gets the golden parachute. I don't think GMTM would HATE the idea of Nolan winning with a better team, despite other peoples opinions. I would also bet we see Nolan get at least 20 games next year, if not at least 1/2 the season before a decision is made.

Speaking of tank mode keep an eye on the Leafs and Habs as trade partners....

That's an interesting thought.

You guys may be right, and the situation may be right, to give Teddy part of the season next year.

(frank) em both.

I guess it could always be worse, huh? We could have the Leafs' farm system.

Exactly... Imagine a scenario where Carolina, toronto, Ottawa and Philly all go tank crazy. In five to ten years, we might see a mid-90s - 2007 redux. All our old rivals will be battling again for playoff spots.

One reason I am against taking kessel or dion from the leafs. Let them take those contracts up the a$$... Why should we help them get picks and prospects?

If anything, we should be dealing our guys before these other losers do, and horde the good stuff for ourselves. Not saying toronto will actually have the patience to go full tank, but it looks scary 3-7 years out.

doesn't do any good if we don't continue to tank, losing is all that should matter. Playing well, scoring, passing none of that crap matters just losing does.

I agree.

I wish a slow, painful, agonizing death on the Leafs and a embarrassing 1st round flameout for the Hab's.

Oh I agree. I would like to see some creativity out there and some passing to our players that is connected and taken a few skate strides. But this team is like a awesome naked chick puzzle . Fresh opened box and were to start.

Then finding out the picture didn't match the puzzle as the puzzle was actually Rosie O'Donnell.

Every win we get just hurts are chances at this rebuild. If we finish 2nd and end up with the 3rd pick it's gonna be a long time until we are cup contenders. Mez and Benoit should be starting every game. Lindbeck in net. hodgson playing until he drops dead

Yep. Been hearing Habs are looking to take some of the Leafs big players off of their hands...apparently Eller has fallen out of favor in MTL just as a side note to all of this..
