I think a lot of us, including myself, thought the team would get the dead dog bounce from changing the coach but I have to say I like what I'm seeing:

- protecting Jultz/Klefbom although last night was not their best game

- Yak/Roy tandem is working nicely, crazy what a vet NHL centre can do

- Team is competing hard without the best player

(frank), it's an obvious change in this team since they booted ole grump face. Nelson seems to give a poop about what the players think. Eakins would just blame the fans for them losing.

They just working harder and play a more up tempo game. It's fun to watch.

You have to wait and see which coaches are all available- you have to look under all stones... We have had so many (frank) ups with coach choices... gotta make this right this time... Nelson would have a good shot at it tho... But interview and find a vet coach or stick with Nelson- no more rookie coaches for this young team... ie Eakins

I really want to hear how Eakins benefitted the Oilers- for 1.5 yrs... Esp developing players like Yak, Lander, Eberle, Klefbom, - the additions of Roy and Klink helped contribute- but its so blatantly obvious Nelson has done something to this team, and that thing called the PP

The thing that makes me furious with Eakins is just how much he MAY have ruined Yaks. Yaks played his ass off early in the year and never got a shot at being more than a 10 minute a night 3rd liner. When you have a 1st overall pick, give him a chance to succeed because he is a very valuable asset.

I'm just gonna leave this here. I won't contest that there was some kind of fundamental flaw with how Eakins coached Yak cause it's clear that was the case, but it was not due to a lack of opportunity.
