2? 7? 27? I don't even see a difference, numbers are stupid and it's all about MY opinion.

Numbers suck man. Letters are way better. And symbols rock face. £^¢§{>}~£§<°<«}|{>}℃°⊙¤}«{«¿{§<|>£]¢€

We've been over this, just proves how he was thrown around the lineup, never got a chance to stick with a line. And my comment was on this year.

Honestly though, Eakins may have been a poopty coach and not great for Yakupov but when a player turns down the opportunity to play with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for Derek-IClearedWaivers-Roy that signals to me that the chemistry just isn't there for Yak and Nuge.

I'm just gonna leave this here. I won't contest that there was some kind of fundamental flaw with how Eakins coached Yak cause it's clear that was the case, but it was not due to a lack of opportunity.

2013-14

Yak's EV TOI with each player (total of approximately 700 minutes):

Gagner = 318:31
RNH = 227:39
Eberle = 193:52
Perron = 176:35
Hemsky = 125:46
Hall = 111:47
...
Gordon = 51:01
Joensuu = 40:26
Gazdic 26:17

Dmen Yak most frequently played in front of:

Schultz = 255:05
Petry = 233:34
Ference = 231:04

Yak's expanded metrics:

Offensive zone start percentage: 63.90% (1st among Oilers)
Facing between 2nd and 3rd line competition
Played 14:10 minutes per night
Averaged 2:10 minutes per game on the PP (most frequently alongside Gagner, Perron, and RNH)

Nope.

This doesn't jive with the narrative.
Yaks never got good linemates.

All we needed was to put him beside Roy this whole time.

Because he was moved around too much?

I thought it was because he was only ever getting plugs as linemates....(which also isn't true)
I'm sure this was one of the consistent arguments.

One thing people don't care about is chemistry. Yakupov might hate playing with Nuge because of how skilled Nuge is, instead of focusing on what he wants to do he would have to constantly be aware of what Nuge can and might do. Roy plays a much simpler game and is easier to read off of so Yak can just focus on himself.

I personally hate playing with creative players because it doesn't jive with my North/South game. I like to keep it simple and don't want to over-think every situation.

Either way it's nice to see yaks scoring.

Him as a real weapon out there makes us exponentially Deeper and better.
hopefully he continues to gain confidence

And thats where the chemistry comes from. It can lower your quality of play when you are constantly trying to figure out what that person is doing, rather than just knowing where they are going to be.

I had the same problem in rugby. If the scrum-half or flyhalf felt like being a ballet dancer, all other guys were left out to cover the mistakes and gaps and it (frank)s up the set plays.

Just WIN female doges I am back from commenting on a golden cock Yet the dude that posted it got sweet (frank) all... We ARE as inconsistent as Shanaban But (frank) it- who cares- we went toe to toe with a large amount of teams that will be entering the playoffs and we took them to distance... This team is making strides

The whole way Eakins treated yak is really kind of a paradox. On one hand, yeah maybe he didn't get the fair end of the stick and I for one around December of this year got pissed when he never played yak in the third, or OT or a shootout cause at that point, what did the team have to lose? However his defensive game sucked a$$ and he had to learn that side of his game somehow. So up until this point everything that Eakins did to Yak is impacting his success now, being that our past experiences are what makes us who we are today. Like it or not the way Eakins treated Yak, he has a hand in what we are seeing in the kid today. Either way who gives a (frank) cause Eakins is gone and Yak is putting the puck in the net.

That is where all the noise for that type of music comes from...pushing buttons. It's not like they are picking up an instrument and playing anything.

I think Yak just wants some consistency... I hope as the season progresses he embraces that opportunity- cause who the (frank) knows if Roy is here next year- its the Oilers...
