I think Yak just wants some consistency... I hope as the season progresses he embraces that opportunity- cause who the (frank) knows if Roy is here next year- its the Oilers...
- saskoil21

Doubtful he wants to resign in Edmonton....which is sh!tty cause he still has a couple good years left, just hope they are able to sign someone in the summer who can play with Yak.

It isn't an argument. Just stated facts.

i 100% disagree with those "facts".

Roy has been great for Yak, but based on economics, I'm not ste he re-signs here anyway.

Any updates on Petry?? Is his ribs gtg?? Any why are we only asking for a 2nd rounder for him?? Anyone else here think we could ge more?
- saskoil21

I can't believe we're even thinking about getting rid of him. He has got a lot better this year in my eyes. He's shooting and hitting more than ever. We need to resign him and get him a better partner to play with. He eats up a lot of tough minutes with a sub par Ference as a partner.

I dunno, he took a cheap contract with Nashville and then was waived. And if he is performing, maybe a deal can be worked out for at least another season. If he resigned for 2mil max for 1 year, i wouldn't complain, unless he nose dived and didn't do anything positive.

Yeah but Nashville isn't the number one city in the league that players don't wanna play in .

Maybe Ference looks so bad cause he is playing with a sub par partner in Petry? Yeah. I just blew your mind didn't I.

I'm fine with this. The Oilers are going to have to pay more than what people consider fair due to his pending UFA status. Gotta pay close to market value. Only time to have saved money was back in the summer.

I do hope they ink Roy as well but hard to gauge if he would want to.

I mean he's on the downward slope of 30 and I'm sure he wants a chance at the cup but he's also playing quite well here so maybe he likes it. Either way they better try! I'd also look at Santorelli, he's a UFA this summer I believe too.

Jesus Murphy Boys....I have no problem with paying 5 million a year for 2 0r 3 years....but longer than that?

Mac T has to re-sign Schultz (whom I feel has the greater upside in the long term)Klefbom, Marincin,Draisaitl, Yak within the next 3 summers, not to mention re-sign or replace Gordon, Hendricks, Ference, Nikitin, and a pair of goalies.

Mac T has to know he has to smarter with his signings as the Key ELC's are eventually all going to run out, save a couple of bit players. When this team is better in a few years (and they will be,with or without Petry) we're gonna need the cash.
This team wont likely be very good without a pair of legit 7 Million Dollar D-men and a 5+ million dollar goalie.
Sure, we have no idea how were gonna get these guys, but do we want to be bum(frank)ed out of the cap room if and when the opportunity presents itself?
I'm not saying that we can"t make it work in 4 years with Petry at 5 million but we need to start looking a little closer at the cap in coming years.

Why do you want Santorelli? I get Roy as a 2C but not Santorelli....would rather run with gordo and Lander.

Well Babcock is but is he really an option for us?
- Oilfan19

Say we could sign Babcock, how would we know if he could rally the team to play like Nelson has. I stick with Nelson regardless of other options.

Valid points. I was more looking at the 5mil/year salary than the 4 year term.

you think he wants 6? I can see him wanting something comparable to AMac.
