So refute it, compare his handling to Gudreaus handling, both having similar struggles early on, who was handled better? And why was said person handled better? Please enlighten me. - SpoiledByOil
Refute what? The point you were making about me knowing nothing about hockey? Because, in case you didn't realize, that's what that post was in response to |

Fair point at the bottom, but my point to the argument was simply that it was inherently wrong to judge Eakins based solely off a game or two worth of work and subsequently lord the fact that you were right over someone else a year and half after (as seen in the post that sparked the exchange).
It's not that he wasn't right; it's that his approach to and subsequent handling of being right that was and is wrong. - MaximumBone
no it wasn't wrong at all. But what's the point in even arguing.
i pay attention to other teams, and how they handle strugelling rookies. Calgary with Gudreau was the perfect example, still waiting for you to justify his handling compared to Gudreaus. Obviously you can't because one was done properly and one was done horribly wrong.

No I really don't. He just spews the same garbage arguments he hears from other people.
I've been saying he has been handeld wrong since day one, turns out that he's been handeld wrong since day one. It's beyond obvious that he was developed horribly under Eakins.
And now that it's coming out that he wasn't being handled properly under Eakins, that makes me a moron for saying he wasn't being handled properly under Eakins. Am I the only one who sees how (frank)ing stupid that is? - SpoiledByOil
I already DID refute this point.
Except he's getting the same ice time (14-15 mins), the same easy opposition, and the same access to the best possible linemates he was under Eakins. Is it Eakins' sin for not having a Roy? Nope. His most frequent linemates in Eakins' first season were Sam Gagner, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and David Perron (as per behindthenet.com).
And no, you're a moron for jumping to the conclusion so early and then lording it over others when it just so happened to be right. |

He wasn't getting access to the best possilbe linemates under Eakins. He was bounced around from line to line and rarely played with anyone on a regular basis. He wasn't getting and 1st line PP time and when he was playing the 2nd line PP he would play him on his off wing or on D.
Just because you agian like to read a bullpoop blog with numbers on it that justifies point of view doesn;t mean poop. Does that site tell you how long he played on the lines in a row, or wether it was on one for a few games then another for a few shifts than back with someone else the next game? Bouncing around constantly?
No, that would actually require you paying attention to the games, instead of just reading uselsess stats on a bullpoop blog. |

Maybe it's because they, like the 2010 Oilers, had no one else to play more effectively in that situation so they gave him a quick benching and then let him get back to his thing (see Taylor Hall in 2010). Now, Yak has the misfortune of playing behind what is an already established top line of high end young players that are all well above him in some facet or another.
Not saying that's the best way to handle things, but he's really just a victim of circumstance and an unfavourable roster that doesn't allow him the same freedoms a guy like Gaudreau has playing in front of Giordano, Brodie, and alongside an established vet like Hudler. |

Still waiting for you to justify his handling compared to Gudreaus who was struggeling the same as he was. Or even McKinnon this year, Galchenyuk. Any of the recent rookies. Tell me 1 single sophmore in the league that was handeled the way he was and it turned out succesfully? |

That's just a conjecture argument, who on this team should be played in a scoring role above Yakupov? Especially last year before we got Purcell?
He was scratched as punishment, his usage upon return clearly shows that. Gudreau was scratched as a learning experience, his usage upon return clearly shows that. |

Yea super happy with another bullpoop conjecture "maybe" argument that doesn't require you to actually look at the situation and justify it.

When Yakupov flees the NHL after not being able to produce, that's when he can be labeled a 'bust'. Until then, the 21 year old NHL player that has a rocky start to his career obviously still needs time to adjust and get back his confidence. and Nelson has done a great job so far of getting him back on track.
