the GM Holmgren never addressed the team's real problem, goaltending and D. he should trade for a solid goalchie (seriously, the flyers would have been set with Luongo and could have got him for minimal parts), and pick up a dman from the Bruins/ Chicago ala the NYI. can't get Leddy and Boychuk now, but those teams have cap issues and need to get rid of players.

both have an oversupply on the D. flyers should take up Chara (even though he's slowed). The Bs need forward help and they could get rid of Louie erikson (sp?) so a deal for Chara, Erickson, and prospect (11.25 mill) for luke schenn, simmonds, and Braydon Schenn (10 mill) might work out for both teams.

Bs get younger, forward help and serviceable dman plus cap relief and flyers get to shore up their second pairing D, a PP point shot, and hopefully a change of scenery rejuvenates Louie and brings more skill than Simmonds, plus a prospect (to make up for getting an older player).

Had we won the other night vs CBJ, I could have seen us passing them but now I think Florida is the only team with a shot. I suspect we'll beat Buffalo 2-1 in a shootout tonight with a lacklustre effort similar to Sunday's game..but then we've got Nashville, Washington and NYR in 3 of the next 5.. I really think we needed to run the table in the 4 games vs Buf/CBJ.

Buffalo is surprisingly good in shootouts, so I hope it doesn't get that far. Although, Enroth was probably a key contributor in that area and he gone now
