If they get MDZ signed at around the same number, they have a 2nd pairing at $4.5M for next two years. Not the ideal 2nd pair, but those two have outplayed everyone else.

Number is manageable too if they want to flip Schultz next season or the season after

Indeed. Schultz's usage and possession stats this season are similar to Couturier's, so the extension is very reasonable.

Schultz has played well, fair deal for both sides.

If Hextall doesn't move out a few dmen at the deadline, I'm concerned it's going to be the same blueline again next year. Which they aren't going to be able to sell to anyone.

personally think we should trade as many as these guys as we can, perhaps package with B schenn for young talented defensemen, and then with that money freed up with these trades sign forwards via free agency, only problem is can't think of any good wingers to bring in that could work for us production and salary wise.
