Nice deal for Schultz. Reasonable.
Isnt it interesting that the d-core that's supposed to be adequate has a couple fresh faces come in and outplay most of the regulars.
In terms of movement, may be in the minority but I'd hang on to Coburn unless a deal blows the door off. The Flyers should know first hand just how hard it is to find a decent d-man. Coburn's career may be defined by up and down periods, chronic inconsistency but he is generally a solid top 4 d-man. Especially when given a decent partner and not being made into a #1-2 guy like the Flyers have continuously tried to do.
I want Coburn to stay. The unfortunate aspect comes in with guys like MacDonald, Grossmann and in particular Luke. Players you would probably want off the team, but nobody may want.
I do not want the young d prospects touching NHL ice next season, and wouldn't be opposed to including Ghost in that group.

I think you have to hold onto at least one. You do need some physical presence moving forward. It will be a while still before Morin fills out. |

People will laugh, but I wouldn't move MDZ for less than a first right now
When you look at the ice time, the assignments, the production, he's playing like a first-rounder, and there's no reason to believe he can't continue - AllInForFlyers
I'm not going to laugh. I may pass on trading Del Zotto for a first.

I'd choose Grossmann hands down.
Honestly pretty close to done with the Schenns. Brayden in particular has had moments of really good play, but I think he has been given a gift by having nobody push him out of a spot. The Flyers lack any real skilled forward prospects to challenge his position. For now. |

I wouldn't go that far...it's not a bad deal, but it's not exactly a great deal. Hextall's sure cornering the market on 3rd pair defensemen. - Jsaquella
I agree with the poster, it's a fine deal. It gives the Flyers a solid veteran defensive defenseman at a bargain price. It will allow them to make other moves to clear up cap space, and now have a cheaper replacement in the fold. Strong signing by Hextall.

I may hate a lot of them on that back end, but at this point in the organization's growth, Coburn, Streit and MDZ should be keepers. One of Grossmann or Luke.
Unless well yeah, they blow your boxers off with an offer.
The changes to the back end imo shouldn't be, and don't think will be so quick. Couple years at least. |

I'm essentially in the same boat. Luke is what he is. As the cap goes up his deal doesn't look terrible or anything.
Brayden just doesn't seem to fit. That's not to say I don't think he won't continue to develop. But this team does have a big need in the LW department and an even bigger need in scoring that comes from 5 on 5, non top line play.
I don't know what packaging them gets you but I think Hexy needs to at least see what is out there. If the Schenns get me Boedker or be the nucleus of a deal for Hertl I'm probably making that deal. |

Honestly don't know if you can move either. They have one more year on the deal after this I believe.
Which is why I think we look at a similar season next year. Which I am fine with, have to pay the price for escaping bad deals. It will be a tough sell to have largely the same group return next year but I wouldn't be against it. One more year of poop, then start the infusion of talent and kids. Upswing then. |

I think they can move Grossmann and Schenn if they want to in the off season or around the draft.

Devils still believe they're in the playoff hunt, so Jagr trade discussions very temporarily on hold. Still trade bait. |

I think you can move them if not now, during the offseason. However, you won't get much for either, especially Luke. Hockey guys, according to Bill, still like Grossmann. Luke though, well, don't see any Gm salivating over adding him to the roster. |

Yes, without a questionable deal coming back. Both are good stay home physical defenseman. They'll only have 1 season left on their deal. 3.5M isn't a lot of money for a decent defenseman.
