Been discussed , Contract length and cap hit would be a problem in 3 years with all our guys needing contracts if they turn out.
- cabin

yes, you could work around it

2 1st's and a 2nd please

I hope the Leafs get stuck with every bad contract they got right now, Kessel, Phaneuf and Clarkson. I hope that team sinks farther down then the Titanic. People in Canada won't be able to call 911 fast enough when McDavid is playing for a U.S. team and i'll love every minute of it. I'm hoping it's the Sabres and they can see him 8 times a year.
- SABRES 89

Kessel is a bad contract?

No, I don't think so...he could be traded in 2 seconds.

Phaneuf also can be traded especially with them being in a rebuild...just take another lesser crappy contract back

Clarkson...you win there.

Only 8 teams could take Kessel. Factor in not all of them want him and he can veto a trade then his value goes down even further. He is a complimentary player being paid like a franchise player.

Thats part of the problem. We won't help the Leafs with those firsts. Would you guys do the same if it was reversed ? Don;t think so.

We are done with crap contracts. Leino and Ehrhoff were bad enough and we're still stuck with Hodgson's

I think Kessel is much better than all you've mentioned.

He's not the right fit for Buff anyways...I think you guys still have a couple years before you become contenders.

$8m is the norm for top 5 scorers

Hodge can at least be saved with certain circumstances. Leino was wrong from the beginning .

That sounds about right but I don't see them getting a top prospect back. Florida has already said they won't part with their top guys for him.

don't have a problem with it, just pointing out the backwards thinking

I like Kessel, Im okay with him at 8 mil. over 7 more years? I don't know about that.

Well if you guys get McDavid, Kessel wouldn't look too bad on the right

7 yrs might be a bit much...depends how much you win in the 1st 3-5 years I guess. A couple cup runs and nobody cares if he's floating for the last couple years would be my guess...Hoping McDavid ends up in T.O.

Not sure Buffalo / Toronto should be trading with each other...but if the Leafs are going to make trades with the Habs....I guess that leaves every team wide open for business.

I wanted to see what it was all about.

The Leafs thread is brutal - I made the mistake of wandering in there the other day to get a feel for what they wanted for Kessel.

all 3 are horrible contracts, 1 guy with 7 years left and another with 8. 8mill for one and 7 for the other........................ yea they both suck.

I just think the cost of getting him from a division rival may be too much, especially after the price we just paid.

sure, if you like being wrong.

Kessel would get that today from 99% of the teams in the league.
