He's in a tough spot. Buying him out is a lot cheaper this year than next year. But he was showing improvement last year and for some reason this year he bottomed out. Can a different coach somehow supply a system in which he and the rest of the offense perform worlds better? Or is he really just too lazy to bust his azz every night? He either needs to score or needs to go. He has no other use. Predicting what is done with him is near impossible.
- TheSabresTaco

It would be epic to have a coach with A system come to Buffalo!!

Bazinga!!

Hard to say, there is always that " what if " with Hodgson.

I would think we'll get a 4th for Meszaros.

Stewart is the wild card. My guess is Boston or Calgary.

Mitchell will get us similar to Meszaros unless packaged with someone.

No one will want Benoit.

Neuvirth stays.

- mhp

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess Murray is going to package Stewart with a prospect a team wants so he gets someone he wants or a 1st. I see a trend where he spices up our main dish for it to taste better.

He did that with Brayden McNabb and tossing in 2 seconds to get what he wanted; he did that with Ryan Miller by adding Steve Ott; and he did that in the Tyler Myers deal by sprucing that up with prospects, 1st and Stafford to get what he wanted.

It's a tough spot...someone posted and I agreed with them (365 maybe?) that there's no reason to dump him because the return would be so low, so why not keep him and have him (likely) increase his value next year?

The problem is timing...I may be wrong with the figures, but I think someone else mentioned if they buy him out this coming offseason, it's a miniscule cap hit (I think it was less than $1M per for like 8 years), but doubles if it's done in following years.

Tough spot. I'm in the camp that would prefer to keep him, figure he has to be able to regain form.

- stashu

If they dump him it will be soon, they won't wait. I think it 7 or 800,00 don't quote me on that.

Not a bad prediction. He's our last asset with actual value. I wouldn't mind seeing quality addition to bring back a real asset.

Kid has skill i'll give him that but he's lazy and we don't need to pay him for playing lazy and showing up when he wants, why he's bad this year and not last is beyond me. I know the team is bad but 2 goals, I don't buy it.

The only bad thing about Stew is his UFA status .

I read in the Chicago blog that there is talk of Florida moving Jonathan Huberdeau for Sharp as the principal of a deal.

I have no clue why Florida would want to do that. It makes little to no sense for them.

He should be putting up Ennis numbers, or at the very least Girgensons numbers.

What a joke. Tallon's holding firmly on his young talent. If anyone in Chicago thinks that's going to happen, they need to put the gin bottle down.

the key will be what "upgrades" are made over the next 6 months

an upgrade at rw is needed
an upgrade on the top 4 d is needed
and 2 viable options need to be found in net (Ullmark may be one of them as I think he is ready)

- homiedclown

Agreed on RW. They will have the cap space to bring 2 RW's on if they choose to or they can bring one on and use a combination of the RW they bring in, Ennis, and perhaps Grigorenko or Girgensons if they decide to move one to RW.

An upgrade on D overall, agreed. Top 4 would be nice but a 4/5 would be fine. Boychuk?

I truly believe Neuvirth is one of the two options and could easily do the job as their starting G going forward.

Keep Benoit. He is helping us lose. If we trade him for a late pick and bring up pysk that could hurt us since we might win a game here or there. We have a good lead on Edmonton but they have a brutal schedule coming up

Was about to say the same. We have a great blend of appathy and lack of talent working for us now.

I would think the only way Meszaros moves is if we don't move Stewart. We retained some of Stafford's salary and we can only do it for one more player.

I think Murray is going to try and ship everyone he can out but IMO, he won't be able to move everyone. But I agree with you now that I think about it.
