I read in the Chicago blog that there is talk of Florida moving Jonathan Huberdeau for Sharp as the principal of a deal.

I have no clue why Florida would want to do that. It makes little to no sense for them.

Also read here all season how Myers would bring back the world. I imagine it's Chicago people saying that more than anyone else. Sounds completely out of whack.

I have an idea, but it involves a pipe, blowtorch and a pair of pliers...

I think Murray is going to try and ship everyone he can out but IMO, he won't be able to move everyone. But I agree with you now that I think about it.

Imagine trading mez and Benoit for 6th rd picks and we go on a winning streak. We end up drafting hanafin with 3rd pick instead of mceichel all for a 6th or 7th rd pick

My opinion is you don't trade Stewart, unless you know you can definetly resign him in the offseason. With reinhart,mc eichel,Ennis, moulson, you need a stewart and foligno to protect the smaller players. Stewart if he gets you a Second, big deal. You definetly don't trade him to Boston with lucic . If the sabres want to turn it around next season,Stewart should be a part of it. With one big signing or one more trade even next year and bring in one more goal scorer, they will be on the right track.

Thanks Mike. I think a lot of teams in the East are in the same boat. They have some heavy contracts to deal with, and they weren't ready to deal with the recent changes in the NHL. Now, in order to build a team, you will probably have to build within, and dump players before they get too expensive to maintain. A good balance is the key, but finding that balance will be difficult for a while.

Ha I heard him say that. I'm thinking salary cap reasons he may need to keep mez at least. Ship Stewart out since he will get value. I think Benoit securing us a top 2 pick is actually getting something for him lol

Was about to say the same. We have a great blend of appathy and lack of talent working for us now.

I would think the only way Meszaros moves is if we don't move Stewart. We retained some of Stafford's salary and we can only do it for one more player.

3 total. Only retaining one right now.

Benoit is going to get you less than Henrik Tallinder got the Sabres last year.

Exactly. The smart teams are going to be signing players to shorter contracts unless they are truly elite. If a player is up for a large contract, and he isn't at that level, he should be traded while his value is at its peak. It's going to take a lot of foresight to accomplish though.

That's a problem. Stupid teams will still offer long contracts. (see Sabres to an extent)

Is it three? I may have had it wrong as last year we kept salary for a couple of players but I may have forgotten that we still had Pommer's?

Remember how Buffalo fans are always criticized for overvaluing players.

Chicago fan says:

"Sharp and Schmaltz should be able to land one of Barkov or Huberdeau"

Already talking about Toronto within fifteen (frank)ing seconds

But McDavid said it wouldn't be hard to put his liking of the Leafs aside (liked them as a kid) with how they're playing. Nervous chuckles from the interviewers
