Hanging on to Higgins is wrong. He doesn't score. He doesn't have big hits or speed. He kills penalties. That can be easily upgraded. - VANTEL
His play has dropped off considerably in the last few years. Time to go - make way for youth. |

This team is no more a contender than it was 2 weeks ago, they are playing really well and are having some surprising contributions from the bottom 6 and call ups. You can't expect Bo to keep scoring on 20% of his shots and Kenins to continue this hotstreak or Biega/Sbisa/Clendening/Weber/Stanton being everyday players.
Right now enjoy the wins and realize the team has a good shot of the playoffs but don't be surprised if/when the team falters again. Ebbs and Flows, I expect to see lots of Tank Pictures in here at some point this season after a few poor games again.
Bieksa is overrated in the media and if the right deal came along I would be all for moving him, I just really doubt he is willing to move on. He brings a lot of nice intangibles to the team and leadership but I don't think it would be too crazy to suggest he is a 5/6 guy at this point of his career. - belcherbd
I don't think anyone is talking Presidents Trophy just enjoying the level of play right now but thanks for bringing us down. |

They'd have to throw in Johansen.
Edit: oh wait Kassian sucks again... Fair deal |

You don't think he could beat out Clendenning or Weber for that spot now?
We have to start thinking about replacing Bieksa - VANTEL
For sure he could beat out Clendenning or Weber right now but if we are moving Kassian, Lack and a2nd for a Dman, I would want that player to replace a top 4 guy not a 5/6.
Garrison is a top 4 and was moved for a 2nd alone.... |

Enjoy the game? Good to see you survived the exit of MSG wearing a nucks jersey. - PetrolSexual
It was unreal.. Couldn't have asked for a better game to be at.. Besides a few tough guys the fans were good... It's funny once they start losing how much the new York comes out... |

What do you think about Matthias? Try to resign or trade? I have been happy with his play of late. I am not sure if it is indicative of the real Mattthias but like what he has been bringing.
It seems with the physicality of Dorsett and Kenins, others feel more confident to play a bit more physical. Not sure if we are much faster, but I think the physical play makes the other teams hurry with the puck more and creates opportunities.
But as an older team, I think the bruises and welts take their toll and guys feel the grind. |

They're actually staying at the same hotel in Manhatten, as the trip over to NJ is a quick trip across the river.
I think they are staying there all weekend, and busing it over to Nassau as well. - moondawg

I think the Canucks greatest need right now is a scoring defenseman. being able to quarterback the powerplay and keep teams honest. Too many times teams are able to pinch down low because of a lack of threat up top. Having a play making D man should be able to help open up and give us the ability to get to the front of the net.
It was like Henriks goal last night. up to the point, Clendenning shoots and there is traffic in front, Henrik swoops in for a tip. Chaos. Perfect. Erhoffs points are still being missed. Not say we need him, just a D able to score and set up plays. Clendenning has been a good add. but we need another.

I just don't get too high or too low on this team during a few game stretch, like I said ebbs and flows.I'm really happy with the way this team has been playing recently but I'm also skeptical about whether the team can continue this recent energetic pace.

I think Matthais is expendable. He's playing the way Kassian should be playing. I suspect that if Benning gets a good offer for him he is gone. The bottom six isn't the problem aside from having too many players to fill the role. The TDL could be interesting as could be the draft this summer. Looking forward to another gritty effort tonight!! |

Where were you sitting? I saw a canuck fan in a white sweater jump up when henrik scored the tying goal. |

I was hoping to see Matthias with Vrbata on the second line, but don't really care to see Higgins there, would prefer Dorsett.
Chris Higgins - Shawn Mathias - Radim Vrbata
Brandon McMillan - Linden Vey - Derek Dorsett
I guess Benning will have a talk with Matthias' agent about dollars and years and then decide. Don't want to see him stay after tdl and walk after the season is done. Resign or trade. |

We are all sceptical and I think its warranted. I am extremely happy with this season as a whole. Playoffs or not this team is the type of team I want to see. Play hard every game. Fight for each other and the wins will come. |

Yup, kinda proving all those wrong that say it's best to develop in the chl+Ahl.... I agree that's the best way to develop long shots and fringe players. But I'm inclined to believe if a player is to have a chance at being a leader or at least a top 30-50 player in the league, they better be there full time by the time they're 20-21. |
