Expecting a Stanley Cup of course...
either that or McDavid - but that one is just too far out of reach. No chance on McDavid when you are completing against Edmonton.

Speaking of which, if you ask nice, we might give you Kassian for Yakupov if you promise to throw in a 2015 1st.

Who the Hell is this Jabroni......come in here for a nice Hockey discussion and there's always one donkey who thinks he's the commando...take a walk Bubba.

Squeaking into playoffs wouldn't be bad if we got good prospect depth and they need experience before the team makes the next step, see Winnipeg this year or Canucks ca. 2002

If anyone gets traded at TDL it would probably be one of the D-men...Hamhuis or Bieksa seems to be popular choices for to be traded

- stevekariya

As many keep pointing out, it's highly unlikely that Hamhuis is going anywhere. He and his family and their church have deep roots here.

Does a chance at a Stanley Cup outweigh that though? Plenty of time in his 40's to go to Church functions.

We're definitely in no-man's land and thus will have to rely on Benning and co. to really make our first two picks count in the upcoming draft. Seems likely that we either finish in a wild card spot with a first round exit or barely miss and finish 9th/10th. I don't expect the Canucks to be in the rental market and I don't expect them to trade a core player either. Only thing I see happening is a trade where one or two of Lack/Matthias/Higgins/Kassian is traded for a young player and/or pick.
- Nucker101

I see him entertaining those ideas better at the draft. I still think he is still evaluating what he has and wants to see who steps up late in the season rather than give up on certain players too quickly. He likely could move around the draft order for a prospect he has seen and likes

Not to mention hes a year out from being an Olympian and under a modest contract. You need someone with experience and the right attitude to help groom the next generation, ask Edmonton. Of the guys under contract, he's my choice to be the veteran leader going forward, Bieksa has turned over the torch

The Canucks are not winning the Stanlet Cup at anytime during the remainder of Hamhuis' contract. So, moot point.

If I am Roberto Luongo and the decision to not play me at the heritage classic comes around I go to Mike Gillis and say you're a f@cking idiot and I want gone now. The Luongo fiasco from the beginning is enough for me to fire MG. Contract, Captaincy, Schnieder being moved etc, etc, etc. Yes he did some really good things for this franchise but his handling of the Luongo situation alone was more than adequate for him to get $hit canned. Its pretty shiddy that for all good he did do its all over shadowed by the idiot things he did. Hell I don't know if people are aware of this but the magic sleep doctor he hired never got paid and sued the team. I better stop before the past sends me into a Marwood level episode.

I am so glad that we are not there anymore and the future is starting to look good. Even the hockey games this season have been really exciting to watch. I only have one game last season that comes to mind that I even enjoyed watching.

Ummmm nooooo, if he wants to win a Stanley Cup in the next few years would he waive his NMC? Or is Church more important?

Right now canucks are holding at 5th in the west based on a points per game basis (2nd in Pacific to Anahiem). I expect them to finish 2nd or 3rd in Pacific unless they end up with a major injury meltdown with their rookie defense. So far things look stable but it is not uncommon to see the rookies hold for fort for a couple of games before the roof caves in.

We know that GMJB needs to move some regulars because of the young guns expected to be stepping up next year. If he can get a top 6 forward now without giving up a top 6 (of which we only have arguably 5 of right now), a top 4 D, or a prospect with expectations of top 6/4, he will jump. Otherwise, I expect a very quiet TDL. Only other deal I see him talking is to solve the to many quality goalies issue.

Everyone else on the team is exchangeable and expendable. Big and fast is better. I would only expect to see small and skilled if it can be surrounded by big and fast.

There is no guarantee of winning the Stanley Cup regardless of where you are traded to. I'm suggesting that family is probably more important to him.

I looking for 7 - 8 points from a 5 game Eastern swing. Hardest 2 games will be in the NY ones. Looking for W's from Bruins, Devils and Sabres

No garauntee but he should take the chance....he is a competitor,no? Besides, his wife knows the drill and its not like she wont be there when the NHL career is over. I think 90% of NHL players value the chance to win a cup and will make short term sacrifices to get it....but I could be wrong.

Careers are so short it really should be a non issue. If I had a chance to win a cup playing for Edmonton I would do it regardless of it being a place I am not into living there.

define chance, I think Hamhuis has been around the block enough to realize that predicting who will win the stanley cup is damn hard even though there are only a handful of legit elite teams. Hossa jumped around a bunch before he got a cup, Iginla hasn't picked a winner yet as well.
