I should have been more clear. I think if Boston was in fact, trying to "showcase" him tonight, they kind of effed themselves over not because the player's worth, but what they might have been expecting to get for him, if he indeed was/is on the block, is now lower albeit slightly, than it was before.

I still don't believe he's really being shopped. But what do I know. Just basing that on their public statement saying they are not interested in trading him. That only tells me he's not on the block, like Myers. Of course he COULD be traded. Just seems unlikely this season.

I'll take neuvy over a third any day of the week.

Me too, but if he has no intention of resigning and gets an offer, he may take it. Typical issue is usually a goalie comes back in the deal and if we want Hackett to play (to become a RFA) the goalie coming back would need to be young or come with a draft pick we want.

If he does trade him, is that a record for trading 4 goalies in one years time? (Miller, Halak, Enroth, Nuevirth)

Idk, smokescreen? There seems to be absolutely no reason to call up a 20-year old goalie this late in the season and start him against one of the better teams in the league when you are in danger of missing the playoffs (and it does nothing to panic Rask into playing better or more desperate), unless you are showcasing him for a potential trade.

Look at Dallas as an example. they traded for Enroth because Lethonen hasn't been playing well, then Lethonen gets a shutout and allows 1 goal in his next start, winning both games. It lit a fire under his ass and IMO, that's the real reason they traded for Enroth.

By that same logic, this does nothing to light a fire under Rask's ass, in fact, makes him more complacent.

And allowing 3 goals on 6 shots doesn't look good no matter how old you are or what team you play on, first NHL start or not. That might be nerves or inexperience but that's very bad.

And Nolan isn't a GM who builds teams, he's a coach. Obviously TM didn't see Myers as someone you build a team around or he wouldn't have been trying to deal him as soon as his contract signature dried.

Just find it funny after hes producing at a PPG rate, it would be hard at least at this juncture to say we overvalued him.
