Seriously. Kane better be a stud
- sbroads24

Well much like we said there's no way Myers points don't go up as he's surrounded by better talent (which seems to be true thus far) I don't see how Kane doesn't look really good next year playing with McEichel.

He's going to get all kinds of ice time and power play time, he'll put up the numbers. I think to make this work one of Risto or Zadorov will have to be stud. Otherwise we'll be doing a lot of looking back.

I like Bogo.. but they arent even close. 4 games and its obvious
- sbroads24

I's take Bogo's 10+ hits, 25+ minutes per game and front of net presence over Myers' 4 points in 4 games and even rating on a team with very under-rated depth in pursuit of their first playoff birth since that one time they were called the Thrashers.

It's obvious Bogo is rock solid and has made this team's D better. It is not even close. Have you ever played hockey, defense competitively?

Is their any facts to back up us being better? We faced 3 bottom 10 teams until tonight

Who cares what Myers does there. Both teams got what they needed.

4 games and its obvious. People need to drop it and revisit in 3 years when we can actually determine if it was a good trade

Side note, I can't believe the sabres killed off a long 5 on 3 that featured Meszaros then Benoit.

We were the same with myers here as we are now with bogo. Myers has better offensive game and bogo is a more physical presence. Everything else between the two is a wash imo.

I know BoGo was a 3rd overall pick but what he has shown in his career since his draft compared to what Myers has, is consistency in his style of play. Myers is an enigma and we all thought we stole one in Bernier after his first few games, so 4p in 4gp isn't anything to write home about, really.

But Bogosian hits man! He hits! Hes physical. He clears the net! Dont you see it? He's made the players around him better (no points, still losing games).

Im in the camp of give it up, especially here.

- theblueandgold

He is playing with the lowest scoring team in the modern era. Myers, the offensive wonder as per you and broads, was forgiven for his lack of offensive output, his lack of hitting, his inability to make an accurate forward pass, battle for pucks in the corners because of the team he was on. I can see when he is playing his outlet passes get complete, he hits the guys in the corners instead of getting knocked on his ass himself, he clears the net. He plays a tight gap on the others team's rush when compared to Myers. His defensive partner, Benoit, was a liability before, now he is playing 20+ mins and playing fine.

Edit, the goal Nash walked around Benoit and someone got the rebound

Its just one game. I dont want them spending the rent money on a goalie. Our goalies will look better when we stop getting outshot 35-22 every game, and scoring 3 every once in a while wouldnt kill anyone either.

Honest question...if myers was 5'9" would we have labeled him a "bust" by now...

Bogosian is even too since joining the sabres. Myers was -15 this year in blue and gold. I know the sample sizes are different, but just sharing. This topic has been discussed quite a bit already, but if it helps both teams, it's all good. They play different styles and it is hard to compare them. A shut down D man vs an "offensive" D man. I was never impressed with Myers slap shot, if it was better, Myers would be putting up 70 or so points a year.

If he was 5'9" he wouldn't have been in the NHL in the first place.

So now that Bogo is on this team, all of the sudden the team around him matters, but it never did for Myers.

"lack of offensive output" -- terrible team. What about Hodgson who is putting up Leino numbers after leading the team last year? You dont hear a peep about his offensive numbers. Nah, lets harp about a D mans. Interestingly enough, he put up a quarter of Bogo's numbers on a better WPG team in just 4 games. Yeah, that says everything about how bad the team is here in BUF more than it says about Myers.

"lack of hitting" -- the best D in the game arent physical players. Bobby Orr, Nick Lidstrom, Duncan Keith, PK Subban, Ryan Suter... none of them register 11 hits in 1 game and bring a physical presence. Such an over valued aspect of defenseman in 2015 NHL.

"his inability to make an accurate forward pass" -- again, I have to ask exactly what you watch in a game. Do you see a failed forward pass as the D's fault no matter what, or do you consider other things like, are his forwards standing still? How much pressure? How much time to react? Its funny that Myers isnt having this issue in Winnipeg in 4 games.

"battle for pucks in the corners" -- Im sure youre linking this with his lack of being physical, which is hilarious. "YOU MUST HIT IN THE CORNERS!!!" He covered a lot of ground with his reach, he didnt need to be physical to be aggressive. Myers rarely got walked on out of the corner.

Its funny, because you think I'm still upset we lost Myers. I moved on 2 days after the trade. But when I see someone like you regurgitate idiotic stuff from facebook comments and WGR callers it drives me crazy.

we are also talking about a 40 goal scorer here. He's made great defenseman look pedestrian.

He still sucks. Just like Strachan.

Bogo is a nice player, but its a fallacy to say we have been better. We have gotten good tending. Difference is Myers is producing in the same place Bogosian couldnt

seriously no one brings up Myers until you or sbroads stirs poop up. Drop it and tell everyone how great Myers is in 3 YEARS. Read more, post less.

Food for thought. The bears you are poking are pretty big on advanced stats. Plus/minus is a loaded stat, guys that play on good teams get easy plusses, guys on bad teams get easy minuses. Check out corsi stats, quality of competition and stuff like that.
