Bogosian is even too since joining the sabres. Myers was -15 this year in blue and gold. I know the sample sizes are different, but just sharing. This topic has been discussed quite a bit already, but if it helps both teams, it's all good. They play different styles and it is hard to compare them. A shut down D man vs an "offensive" D man. I was never impressed with Myers slap shot, if it was better, Myers would be putting up 70 or so points a year.

A 70 point D man if he had a better slap shot? Channeling my inner Bill O'Reilly -- "You cant explain that"

Honest question...if myers was 5'9" would we have labeled him a "bust" by now...
- lung3r

Even if he was 6' I dont think hed get the hype. If he didnt win rookie of the year would he be labeled a bust by now?

He still sucks. Just like Strachan.

Bogo is a nice player, but its a fallacy to say we have been better. We have gotten good tending. Difference is Myers is producing in the same place Bogosian couldnt

we will see at the end of the regular season what Myers' number in WPG are and next year what he does in a full season. But come on, BoGo has never been an OD, Myers is doing in WPG what he should have been doing in Buffalo. Jumping up in the play, shooting, blocking shots, break-out passes. This leads me to believe he was not happy in Buffalo and not putting in a full effort on a nightly basis.

seriously no one brings up Myers until you or sbroads stirs poop up. Drop it and tell everyone how great Myers is in 3 YEARS. Read more, post less.

So now that Bogo is on this team, all of the sudden the team around him matters, but it never did for Myers.

"lack of offensive output" -- terrible team. What about Hodgson who is putting up Leino numbers after leading the team last year? You dont hear a peep about his offensive numbers. Nah, lets harp about a D mans. Interestingly enough, he put up a quarter of Bogo's numbers on a better WPG team in just 4 games. Yeah, that says everything about how bad the team is here in BUF more than it says about Myers.

"lack of hitting" -- the best D in the game arent physical players. Bobby Orr, Nick Lidstrom, Duncan Keith, PK Subban, Ryan Suter... none of them register 11 hits in 1 game and bring a physical presence. Such an over valued aspect of defenseman in 2015 NHL.

"his inability to make an accurate forward pass" -- again, I have to ask exactly what you watch in a game. Do you see a failed forward pass as the D's fault no matter what, or do you consider other things like, are his forwards standing still? How much pressure? How much time to react? Its funny that Myers isnt having this issue in Winnipeg in 4 games.

"battle for pucks in the corners" -- Im sure youre linking this with his lack of being physical, which is hilarious. "YOU MUST HIT IN THE CORNERS!!!" He covered a lot of ground with his reach, he didnt need to be physical to be aggressive. Myers rarely got walked on out of the corner.

Its funny, because you think I'm still upset we lost Myers. I moved on 2 days after the trade. But when I see someone like you regurgitate idiotic stuff from facebook comments and WGR callers it drives me crazy.

See, I don't bring it up until people like you and the other Myers fanatic never let it go. I don't write a dissertation about it either that you just wrote that I skimmed to the end to read the last paragraph. Myers isn't coming back man so just let it go.

Regardless of how dead this horse is, its more relevant than ever with how 57 is starting to produce. Its what we predicted would happen

So when do we stop comparing two different players by the same standards?

FACT: they play different games.

FACT: both teams got what they were looking for apparently.

So if both succeed in doing what they're good at why does it matter what side of the fence you stand?

Exactly! One side, myers has 4 points in a limited sample size. Clearly he is better. The other side, bogosian hits alot so clearly he is better. It makes no sense.

Compare a 108 mph slap shot with Myers, which may be 90mph at best. It makes a huge difference. His timing looks off with it and he sometimes looks like he hit a growth spert and can't hit it right off his stick. Just something I have been noticing after watching him, but whatever. I don't care who is better, we have Bogosian now so I will root for him. Maybe years down the road it will be more obvious who is better.
