IMO I think it's the how fast it's happing is what's getting to me, nothing is set in stone that ROR will be a Sabre but if Murray wants him he will get him for the right deal. - SABRES 89
I was watching the Caps vs Jets last night, & during intermission they were saying that Burmistrov is being shipped by Winnipeg...
Idk what they're asking, but with him playing in the KHL right now, they can't expect full value.
He's a guy I'd like to get. 2nd round pick maybe?
Although Murray might not like him. He prob would've been incl in the Kane trade if Murray wanted him. Or maybe the Jets were just asking for too much.
I wonder what the Jets think about Hodgson?
If we keep some of his salary, I gotta think there's teams tht would want to give him a shot to be a 20+ goal scorer again

No thank you. That would be like throwing a pick away. Get a guy who wants to play for entire career in NHL. If he wanted him, he should have asked for him in other deal, which to me means he does not want him.
they are getting together next week to make him an offer - homiedclown
From what I have heard through the "pundits" is that Whaley thinks they have a much better chance at signing Hughes without the franchise tag than they have a chance at signing Spiller. I don't think he expects him to walk, but I think Spiller wants to leave.
Highly doubt even if the package was decent that the Leafs would trade Kessel to Buffalo. I completely disagree that it would take a huge package to get him given Kessel's contract and attitude.
I wouldn't trade for O'Reilly because I think we go after him hard on August 1, 2016. I highly doubt he signs an extension before then. I wouldn't give up a big package for him without a guaranteed extension.
The guy I'm interested in, given our goalie situation, is Malcolm Subban. Bruins are close to desperation mode. Subban will never start there. Bruins have interest in Stewart. Maybe Stewart and Buffalo's 2nd gets it done?
From what i'm reading, people will give up more for Kessel then ROR and I agree with that. - SABRES 89
Makes sense. Kessel is under contract, and Oreilly is very risky with his upcoming UFA status.
ROR is the player if rather have, but I think it's too risky to trade for him.
I have no interest in Kessel

They've publicly came out to say they're not interested in trading him.

Well if he was traded it would not be the first time someone says they are not trading a guy and then trade him. Not saying it will happen but it always could.

That was my thought as well, but the Jets may have been asking a lot at the time for him, Or maybe didn't even wanna make him available yet.
It's only throwing away a pick if he doesn't come play here. I think he just didn't wanna play in Winnipeg. If we're ok thinking Kane just needed a change of scenery, why wouldn't the same be possible for Burmistrov?
With all the uncertainty in the KHL, it seems like he wants to come back to the nhl.
2nd round picks generally turn out to be depth guys. We have so many prospects right now, I'm not worried about our depth at all.
Burmistrov could end up being a home run for us though.
Worth the risk IMO
You mean third string, yes. And Subban starting vs Blues and not Edmonton? Setting up for failure. - Lilroot9
Well technically third string, but the current back up. Teams do have bad nights, but Subban would have had a better chance at success against Edmonton.

Sure it could. Just don't expect Stewart for Subban.
