yeah that was supposed to be a 27.

Its worth a shot.

Can Pittsburgh just demote Sutter to the AHL, give his spot to Spaling, and dress 7 D?

Kunitz-Spaling-Downie

That's if BB is going to play top six. They could also try BB and Hornqvist with Sid, Perron and Comeau with Geno.

It would be interesting if Perron looked a lot better with Geno, wouldn't it? Hornqvist certainly doesn't.

If they haven't figured out who looks better with whom by now, I doubt 6 weeks of regular season will be enough to determine that.

Keep BB off the top 6. Coming into this season I had high hopes for him but not anymore. The talent is there but something is missing. And I think Perron would work better with Malkin than with Sid. And when the team isn't generating anything offensively why doesn't MJ throw the lines in a blender and mix it up?

i was thinking this yesterday, and i know it isnt going to happen, but man dubinksy sure would be a nice to player to have, few years ago when everyone thought he had nothing left, hes a strong 2 way power forward if you ask me, hed make any stars night uncomfortable, also he could probably trake a hit from ovi and give one back as well, not sure many if anyone on our team could currently do that

He has 17 flanking Max on both wings? That would be an upgrade from Adams.

BB should be a top six by now but I'll be damned if Pittsburgh makes any long term plans around him.

- Johnny Wrath

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I just noticed that ...

Speaking of Max ... when am I going to see his so-called grit and hard hitting?

And they will let him fight with Sid in practice all he wants. Heck, they let Adams fight with Malkin without any repercussions.

MM's line suggestions

39-87-72
14-71-BB
13-16-23
17-40-17

Rationale, BB is either top 6 or nothing.

My concern with Beau lately is that his skating has gotten worse since the knee injury...and he was never a great skater to begin with..

That's fine but Pittsburgh has a 99.1% chance of making the playoffs. There's a better chance that Sutter will be a capable 3C than the Penguins missing the postseason.

Willful players can also be drafted. Tanner Pearson comes to mind. I think Chicago is a great example of a team who has cycled through more than a few will-over-skill types with great success. The trick is to have them while they're in EL or RFA deals. Dubinsky is much too expensive for that type of player. So is Callahan. Dustin Brown. I would say re-signing a guy like Dubinsky would only be worth it if he was a huge part of the team identity, but Callahan disproves that theory.

LA is putting Brown, Stoll, and Justin Williams on the ice together. Great line. Older and more savvy than a Spaling-Kunitz based line but same idea. I think Pittsburgh needs to target a defensive RW for the bottom six and PK this March.

hey I was just trying to help you out. Other guys have suggested OReilly or Staal and it didn't take long before the rabid dogs were all over them

Ha..nice analogy. I mean the issue isn't really making the playoffs. It could get hairy or we could end up a wild card but the point is something needs to change if we want to make a serious run.

I assume that would be a Sutter, Kunitz, Dumoulin/Harrington for ROR plus or Staal plus type of deal ..but why would Carolina or Avs want Kunitz at his age?

That's the hard part. You can make the salary work. Unload Scuderi, move guys with high price tags, whatever. But a deal that makes sense is the harest part, imo, not the salary.
