shakeup tonight.
Perron-Crosby-Horn
Comeau-Malkin-Downie
Kunitz-Spaling-Bennett
Sill-Lappy-CraigTheManAdams
The coach said Sill does more to keep the puck away from his net than Sutter does.

Like I said earlier the two team PP thing is not working. Go back to the original PP team that was killing it earlier in the year. Watch the tape and try to recreate that in practice.
As far as the PK goes, put better skaters on the ice not plugs.
If we can fix our special team woes I agree with other posters we would be much more competitive. And I believe they are fixable.
If this coach won't do it then get someone who will. I have had about enough of HCMJ crappy judgment of talent and who to put on the ice.
Farnham and Rust had more to offer in terms of speed, energy and drawing penalties. The current fourth line is a tragedy looking for a place to suck.

I agree with the lines needed a shake up. I'd like to see Perron tried with Malkin
Kunitz Crosby Hornqvist
Perron Malkin Comeau
Spaling Sutter Downie
Sill Lapierre Adams
Keep Bennett out till he's traded to avoid injury |

Firing MJ wasn't popular yesterday, I wonder how those feelings on here would change with a loss tonight? |

I have been on the firing of HCMJ for a few days now, he just doesn't seem to have the attention of this team. IF, big if he is letting Crosby dictate who is on his line, then he needs to be gone right now. When they show the occasional shot of him on the bench, sometimes he has that...WTF do I do now look on his face. I have said a few times, X and O wise, I think he is a brilliant coach...I just don't think he is the fit here. |

In not way, shape or form do I keep Kunitz with Crosby, you have to separate them. The Peron/Crosby/Horn line was dominate, no reason they should not be back together. I would give a solid weeks worth of BB/Malkin/Comeau and then would run Kunitz/Spaling/Downie with my 4th line of Laps/Sutter/ which ever player wants it the most. I think that sends a message to the rest of the team, and I would take Crosby off the top PP till he understands that the blind passes and trying to pass through 3 guys wont work. I would go as far to tell him, if he turns the puck over 3 times next game with his stupid backhand blind pass, he is a healthy scratch next game. This team lacks stern leadership. |

Exactly when was the Perron Crosby Hornqvist line dominant? When Perron was traded here Hornqvist was on the IR and ever since he's been with Malkin. The dominant line earlier was Kunitz Sid Hornqvist

Got this from Mackey's chipped ice blog
“We’re going to be watching the next two games as closely as we’ve watched any games this year.”
That was how one member of the Penguins front office described the team’s upcoming back-to-back set Saturday at St. Louis and at home Sunday against Florida.
We’re there.
Nobody who has a hand in personnel decisions is happy. This much was made very clear to me on Friday.
General manager Jim Rutherford, I learned, did not travel with the team. Instead, he spent the day Friday on the phone, exploring various trade angles.
Nothing is imminent, but I’m told Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Marc-Andre Fleury are the only names not in play.
Current players have been made aware of this displeasure, that a significant trade or two could easily happen if the effort put forth Thursday against Columbus — and several times before — is replicated.
In my story for Saturday’s Trib, I explore the significance of these two games, which are certainly unlike any of the other 16 back-to-back sets on the Penguins’ schedule.
It’s ironic, too, given that the Penguins face a get-well opportunity against non-Metropolitan Division opponents, a group of teams they’ve actually fared well against this season.
Evgeni Malkin talked yesterday. To me, that’s a testament to where the urgency is with this group. Here’s a sampling of what he said, which will appear in the story Saturday.
“When you (lose a) couple games and (you don’t) play (well), everyone (gets) nervous,” Malkin said. “Coaches, players, organization, we (get) nervous. It’s not bad, but it’s not good.
“We know we (can bounce) back. I believe this team (includes) good guys, good players. (We) just (need to) support each other. Relax. We’ll be back.”
Be GRATEFUL to each other,
Mackey

Thanks a lot for that Mike. I don't see how Rutherford can't use the eye test and data to confirm that the 3C is a problem, but we'll see what happens.

I was thinking last night that maybe the pressure is getting to them again. With the Penguins CONSTANTLY under the microscope it seems like they never have fun anymore.
It reminds me of when Disco was coach and they would say the locker room had become a pressure cooker. |

That's the reality of having two of the best forwards in the game on the same roster. Not going to change even if they had all Sutters in the rest of the lineup so the only thing that would relieve the pressure is moving one of them, which isn't happening. |

Including Maata in any trade would not be advisable. Pens are most likely losing Martin and Erhoff. You also need the lower cap hit on Maata to fix the Barbie style top heaviness of the top 2 lines that would allow some balance to the bottom 2 lines. This weekend is defining moment of where the season heads. |

If Rutherford moved Maatta or Pouliot, the return better be spectacular. And I'm with you on having young, cheap players fill out the roster. |

i will be honest, i think this team is pretty darn good. like rw said the last 3 games we lost were close ones with lots of good to work with.
its only a matter of time before geno and sid and our power play start lighting it up. bad luck right now. plus we have figured out every way there is to lose games so sooner or later we will start winning again.
imho beau b is gonna turn things around quickly too.....he has awesome hands and a high hockey IQ.
and all of you can agree to this statement.........sutter would be awesome if he didnt suck so bad! |

I like Bergenheim's game but we need to add Leadership. Mike Richards (with $2M salary retained) for our trash...and off course, Bergenheim or Glencross. |

whats with all this doom and gloom people.....come on man. we could win our next 17 in a row. this is a bad stretch, we go through them every year, maybe not this bad but oh well. we will get better and will make the playoffs and we will see what happens after that |

Well, the PP and PK have been terrible.
They can't score, again.
They are not getting the puck on net effectively looking for the perfect play, again.
In short, we are gloomy because the team we love sucks.
It's pretty simple. |
