my two 'major shake-up' trades from when I was delirious last night...
Kunitz and Bortuzzo to WPG for two of Burmistrov / Frolik / Peluso /Perreault
(love to have Lowry but we wont get him in that kind of deal)
or something based around Maatta and JvR...
Maatta + Sutter + Bennett + Scuderi for JVR + Bozak + Winnik or Polak - YouMeAndDupuis9
Burmistrov is nothing more than Zherdev 2.0. Pass. Complete garbage.
Frolik - I like ... alot
Peluso - pass
Perreault - you realize he is probably out for the year?
No chance Toronto does that deal. |

Its not hard to believe. Pens can afford it too. Babcock's salary wont count against the cap if thats what your scared of. If its Babcock's asking price, that is completely irrelevant. - joescullz
Easy for you to say, you're not writing the check.
I can't imagine any ownership group would be thrilled with the idea of paying 3 head coaches at the same time. |

Longshot kind of trades...and I figured I'd get a rejection from you haha.
I forgot Perreault was out, I thought he was injured and came back already. Must have missed the last injury. A Kunitz-Frolik kind of swap could make sense for both teams. With other pieces added in of course. Really would love to get Frolik and Lowry...think anything with these parts gets us close? Kunitz, Bortuzzo, Sutter, Spaling
I won't get on my soapbox but I think Maatta's value is higher than JvR's...especially to a rebuild team like Toronto. But I won't beat a deadhorse cause Pens would never trade Maatta. |

Kunitz has good fancystats if you're implying that he doesn't.

changing the lines might help, so try it. But to me it's the special teams that need shook up. They stink. |

Not really a good deal for Pittsburgh. Frolik would be a rental. He is a pending UFA. I like him, but I'm not trading Kunitz for him.
I'm a big Maatta fan and don't think he should be dealt. That said, JVR's value is higher than his is. Maatta has questions now pertaining to health.
Toronto is looking to unload Bozek. If I'm Toronto, I don't deal him for either Bennett or Sutter. He is better than both. |

Frolik is young enough we could re-sign him if he fit well here. Plus saves a significant amount of cap for this year for another move. Just throwing that out there.. |

True, but they are in win now mode. I can almost guarantee you Babcock would not get fired from here if were to sign with us. |

Yep, so forget about wanting to trade for him. He's a shadow of what he use to be...

I was thinking our garbage for Richards (with $2M/year retained). Nothing wrong about that. Scuderi/Sutter.. |

We need Duper on the bench to give this team a little heart. I really think we miss him in the locker room. Whats our record since we lost him? |

I agree with your proposed new lines. I like Sutter on the fourth line, because that will give Adams and Sill some offense. I would stick with Comeau on the third line, though. He has excelled while playing with Malkin, and while many players could do well with Malkin, I think Comeau is especially good with him. The first line would be very good, and I like Spaling as a third-line center. |

Richards would still be band-aid and we should not want him for 5 more years or however long his deal is....even at $3M |

GMJR needs to move Kuni, PM and Sutter. I understand PM is a win now guy then let him walk but too much of that has gone on over the last 5 years and as a result... No depth, no roll over of talent.
Trade PM to ANA for Etem/2nd round pick. Etem takes Kuni spot and provides young legs.
Trade Kuni to VAN for Mattias/mid round pick. This forces sill/Adams out for good.
Trade Sutter to TOR for Polak/late pick. Body moving Dman to play PK/shutdown role.
Pens aquire picks for a deep upcoming draft and get fresh legs/depth/help now.
That also frees up a ton of cap space and adds assets to make a push for JJ if need be.

He only played the first 16 games of the season and the Pens record was 12-3-1. Granted that was a healthy team, but should give you an idea of how dominant they were at the start of the season. |

Please, he's a 3rd line player on every other team. He got lucky the Pens were cap strapped and played with 87. Pens don't have Perron unless Dupes goes down and he is an upgrade over Dupes. |

So, a third line player can't be a captain? Got it. His leadership is invaluable. Sid should learn a thing or two from Dupes. He is the best leader on this team.

Perron still ends up here but instead Sutter goes the other way along with probably our 3rd. MacT wanted Sutter....but we'd still gave our first |

Sutter's lack of physical play and his lazy body work is frustrating to watch. |
