This is good advice and I agree with it. But everyone here wants maximum return on this dismal season.

Not really. You have a legit future #1 in Reinhart, dont rest on your laurels once you get a mcEichel...look at the Pens.....one cup early and then nothing.
- Jeropotato

Hey.....we're Sabres fans.... We'll take 1 Cup! HA!

Joking aside, we do have a lot of promise in our system. No doubt about it. It's not just Reinhart, either. We have a lot of young talent that will be coming up in the next few years. And with the addition of Kane next season, not to mention whatever GMTM adds to or team in the offseason, I think we will be much improved. But, I think if we can get a McEichel, I think that really speeds things along and with the right moves in the offseason, we could be a lot closer to a Playoff spot next season than the bottom.

A lot closer? No, you wont. No defense aside from a couple kids, and no starting goalie...sorry Bubba...you'll be slumming it with us Oilers fans for a solid 3-4 more years.

Probably...we dont need Eichel..we need solid young players that ready to make an impact......again though...you cant afford it, we dont want Cody Hodgeson.

I would not have phrased it quite that way, but we did give up a lot.

Well If I were dangling the #2 pick and the Sabres called I would be asking for either Zadorov or Ristolainen, Foligno and your islanders 1st....wouldnt even ask for your #3.

i dont know, the sabres havent iced an ahl team for the last 2 seasons to get noah hanifin. Might be a pretty good package. But since you brought up hodgson- how about a side deal? Hodgson and a 2nd for a 4th.

Hodgeson and a 2nd rounder for a 4th? whats his salary and do you think he would be that hard to move?

Nothing to spaz about, like you said it's fair. I'd rather hang on to Risto between the two young D.

4m, 4.5m, 5m, and 5.5m for the next 4 years. Theres talk of buying him out. no more compliance buyouts, but because hes under 26 its only 1/3 against the cap for twice the remaining years. $800,000 a year for 8 years. It doubles next year cuz he Will be 26. Doubt we can move him unless we take back a different steaming turd of a contract from somebody else.

Not in any hurry to give up ristolainen, but youd get more than that. I dont think murray can walk away from the draft without eichel or mcdavid in a sabres jersey. Just from a PR standpoint. If santa doesnt come on draft day there will be some very upset children here.

Honestly, I believe that if we get a McEichel this year (without having to trade up because we are picking 3rd), I am confident that our GM will make a couple more moves in the offseason and get us a lot more competitive. If we lock down a McEichel, there is no doubt in my mind we will be 20-30 points better next season. And no.....not just because of 1 guy, but because I am confident more would be added to this team. Might not be Playoffs, but 20+ points better would be a huge improvement.

McDavid with a 5 pointer tonight. 2 goals, 3 assists. Was originally 2 & 4, but they took away an assist later. He's got like 92 points in 36 games now.

BUFFALO SABRES: They made their big move to get Patrick Kane from Winnipeg, but GM Tim Murray remains open for business. He'd like to move winger Chris Stewart along with defenceman Andrej Meszaros and goalie Michal Neuvirth. Murray has been pretty patient and he's stuck to his guns on getting what he wants in return for his players. We'll find out in the next week if that patience turns out to be a virtue.

Garrioch have the Sabres getting the wrong Kane, it will interesting to see if the Sabres deal Neuvirth.

I think they deal him, but I don't think his worth is very high right now. Mez's is almost non-existent. Stew could bring back something decent if multiple teams are in on it.
