SHARP IS OLD
you don't go and get an old player for a rebuilding team, you just don't get that. That takes a position away from one of your younger, developing players, who is going to be gone in two years when you are a contender so why is he here for these two years, hence no need for the bandaid.
You don't settle for the cheap talent when you go and get the top talent when you want to win the CUP. Darcy settled for the easy to get, cheap ( as in cheap to get in terms of trade value) because be didn't want to lose a trade but that cheap talent keeps you mediocre. You don't get that either. You get the top talent to win the Cup, you don't settle for 2nd rate, aging talent like Darcy did because it leads to suffering or drafting 10-16 every friggen year. - GilPerreault11
Agree. Sometimes gotta get "it" guys, not value guys. And they cost more. |

It isn't a comparable trade.
You needed 3 teams to make that trade.
The last 3 way trade in the NHL if memory serves me was the Kotalik for a 2nd which was then sent to Toronto for Dominic Moore. |

Yup. I wanna see the prospects grow. We should be in no rush to make another big trade involving them or picks.
As Murray has said, every year there are players that become available for various reasons, O'Reilly isn't a once and a lifetime player |

I like the player and definitely think he can help this team out but the cost to get him followed by the cost of his next deal or his ability to just walk away in a year bothers me.
You're correct in that he isn't that once in a lifetime player. |

The prospects you want to see grow may or may not be in Murray's future plans, some need to figure that out. They don't need to wait 3-4 more years for this to turn around. |

It's comparable in what Bill Polian was willing to give up to get quality. It was used as an example because people here might remember it.
We were discussing quality vs quantity and when looking at what the Bills gave up alone they gave up quantity to get quality. I could care less about Eric Dic kerson |

Again, it also doesn't mean Murray is right either. He's had one draft and has made a few trades, none have panned out yet.

I can see that and you can fast track this but at the same time I'd rather not see them do it on someone that they can't talk to about a new deal until July 1st. By all accounts if ROR is moved it will more than likely be at the draft. You run the risk of him saying thanks but I'm gonna play my options. |

Doesn't matter what you or I think, he has players he wants and some he doesn't, people are going to pissed off come the offseaon, trade day or the draft if he moves certain players. Don't know who any of those players are but some will be pissed.
Let the Myers trade go already , christ all mighty Murray didn't want him bottom line, move on. |

I remember that game too Irish. That was exciting, that trade, game. That just unleashed him and let him go after the QB. Good times. - GilPerreault11
I thought that game was against Philly...last game of the season? Bisquit had an insane number of tackles and qb pressures. |

I agree - I don't think there is any doubt that Uncle Terry is going to kick this thing into overdrive this summer. I think the real question will be which D is he willing to part with - Grade A (Zads), B (Pysyk) or C (McCabe). I am assuming that Risto is off limits unless the return is something like Taylor Hall. |

Than Pegula is stupid. We did this for a reason, not to tear it all apart and get decent players with red flags |

I'm not saying he's fast tracking it but he's not going to wait 3-4 more years and he shouldn't. Maybe the info he's getting on certain players FA's, UFA's within the next 2 years is some of them may or may not fit into the Sabres plans or might be to expensive, so trading for ROR might be what they will do. It's not a 100% they even make a move for ROR |

I know what you are talking about but people give Murray to much heat for moving Myers claiming we gave up to much and we didn't. You're going to see prospects go for ROR IF THEY MAKE A MOVE FOR HIM. |

Because everyone thinks this should take 5-6 years and then another year for it to come full cycle and that's not going happen. |

That's the issue.
Without knowing he will resign(it is against the CBA to even talk about it until July 1st) how can one make a deal at the draft? |
