Lemieux, just another kid who's parent is going to ruin his hockey career thinking his kid is waaaaaay better than he is. Murray with the ole FU, have fun in Winnipeg. The more I find out, the more I like this Murray guy.
The contracts are fairly standard. They look at what was offered to the guy drafted in your spot the year before and up it by a certain percentage, cost of living increase I think. They have bonuses but they probably match the year before if the player was the same position. Why he thought he was entitled to more is beyond me.

I know, its the strangest contract in a pro players lifespan to play hardball with. Look at a guy like PK Subban. Played well in his entry level deal, got a mid level contract and then the big deal we all know he would(god I miss cap geek). He followed the natural flow that everyone else does and now he's likely set for life. Claude pretty much pissed in the face of the Pegula's. How dumb can one be? They will not only pay you handsomely but treat you like family. Its amazing how the sports world has yet to recognize what the Pegula's mean. And I can't wait to see what Winnipeg offers Lemieux.

I think it's awesome how Murrey shows the big balls to deal him and I think it's great that it worked out to deal him to Winnipeg. He was the only piece in the trade I liked that the Sabres gave up but so be it.

I was pissed when I heard the deal, mainly because of him. But I don't think it was about getting the most value, I think it was about getting value while sticking it to him. I also didnt realize how bad the situation was.
Here's what I heard may be out there, whether rumour or speculation, you decide if you like it:
Chris Stewart, Mike Weber and a low 5th pick to NY Islanders for Griffin Reinhart and a conditional 3rd pick if Stewart signs with NY
( The fact that Buffalo would want another Reinhart makes sense from a marketing sense, but Reinhart and Pysyk played together in junior, so this also works as Buffalo's 3rd pairing for next year)
Andre Mezzaros to LA or Anaheim for a pick
Cody Hodgson, Jake MccCabe and a 2nd pick round pick for O'rielly,
Vancouver will look at a Buffalo goalie for sure if Miller is out for a while and Torrie Mitchel may be headed there as well.
Benoit is a low cap hit, so as a 7th defenseman look for Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit to be interested, and Detroit especially if Buffalo takes a contract for them like Steven Weiss....Detroit may also like Mitchell and may be willing to give up a minor league defenseman to dump the Weiss contract - RicoMartin

Typical Lindy team. Fall apart at the end. - sippyd

It's funny reading all of the analytics community dig deep into the Stars numbers and make playoff predictions, while some of us simply remember 16 years of Ruff coached teams

I said in the last thread, I think the real reason they traded for Enroth was to light a fire under Lethonen's ass, which it has so far but Enroth has looked like a scrub since the trade so idk if it gets them a run to the playoffs.
interesting to see if Lindy is the coach next year after they miss the playoffs this season.

Everybody's favortie. From garths blog - Mentalorgasm5
So a rental, arguably the worst defenseman in the league next to Rob Scuderi and Brian Strait, and a 5th for a defenseman picked 4th overall two years ago...AND a 3rd.
