If we are truly going after ROR. Who let's be serious is no better then a mid level 2nd line center AT BEST. We shouldn't be giving up a first. I'd rather sign Vermette then trade a first for this guy. The most I'd give up is Ruhwedel, 2nd and a prospect like Baptiste. - Jammerz04
The thing with ROR for me is his economics are all f'ed up. He has to be paid like an elite player to keep him. He's a good player to have, but his value just seems totally screwed, financially.
"So with the RoR rumors swirling to Buffalo, and Colorado’s dire need to for a good LH shot dman. I think it would make sense to go along the lines of Gorges + Grigorenko + Late BUF 1st for O’Reilly.
I’m an Avs fan so I would hope that they would target one of Ristolainen/Zadorov as a piece in the deal, but I know the chances of that are very slim to none, so I’m being realistic"
Most reasonable comment I've seen on any boards in a long time. And yes, I would make that trade.

To be fair, the whole elite paying thing is pretty over blown, and him being greedy etc etc, he held out once in a large group of RFA forwards who all did the same bc they didn't want to sign contracts before the lock out...no one knows what he is asking or what he would settle for plus now the league is blown wide open with 10m forwards and 9m Dmen...to have a really good Top 6 player bw 6-7m doesn't seem to crazy in comparison.

I wouldn't do that deal just bc Gorges wouldn't solve the Avs issues on D, I would hope for a better package but I always assumed thats the sort of package they would get for him.
I don't want them to trade him bc I do think that MacK as a RW makes the most sense and that line of MacK, Landy, and ROR is really lights out.

McCabe (really good d prospect), Gringo and our 2016 first for ROR

Not making me super eager to raid the cupboard to acquire him, though. Good player, poor asset. Again, just my opinion.

He won't get his full value in a trade unless there is some sort of bidding war on draft day. And if they move him for less of what he is worth, I don't see it being smart asset management.
I really hope he sticks, try and sign one UFA Dman and give Bigras a shot on the roster next year to turn that core around. They really are not that far off, a smart offseason and they should be a comfortable in the standings playoff team
