He's a minor league player, nothing more.
He should be in Lehigh, & he can take his cousin Vinnie with him.
Honestly, after those 2 guys I can accept Umberger a little more. He can kill penalties, & play a clean aggressive game.
He's not going to earn his salary, but I thought he played well today on the Schenn, White line. - puckhead17
Umberger's play has definitely improved, and I think he's a solid team guy. His money/reamaining years is more of a problem, but it wouldn't look nearly as bad if VLC's contract was gone from the team. |

He can still shoot the puck, if given a chance. I'd rather play Lecavalier over Rinaldo. Raffl is a grinder and forechecker more then a shooter. - MJL
I think Raffl has a little more skill than that.
Yes, VL can still shoot, that's about it though. |

If he can stop making mistakes with the puck, I like him on that VDV and Bellemare line more then Rinaldo.

Raffl never gets any PP or 4v4 OT time. A little baffling to me. As things stand right now, I'd give him as much of a shot on the PP as Read, BSchenn and Couts. |

On that line over Rinaldo?
Yes, ok.
But that's not saying much.
I would think a 34 year old, 17 year veteran would know how to limit his mistakes, & protect the puck better.

I wouldn't mind seeing Raffl in that front of the net spot. I also think he would be good on puck retrievals. The 2nd unit tends to dump the puck in a lot.

Because of no Voracek, or Giroux type on the unit. |

Still a tough road to the playoffs. I can't imagine Boston continuing to play poorly, and Florida is in better shape than the Flyers.
Starting to love White on this team.

I actually think he'd be a nice addition for them. I doubt Montreal gives up a first though |

I still think we should make a move to gain assets if that's possible. |

They cut to him. The refs got in between him when he was going to Weber so he started mouthing off and going towards Josi.
I fear this is the point he's reached. Did he do anything harmful? Certainly not. But the refs seem more than tired of keeping him in line.
For his own sake I hope he does go down the the AHL and develops some skills. Because if the refs are going to hold him to this standard he will be out of the sport sooner rather than later. - hereticpride
They called the penalty after the ref put a hand on his stick and he ripped it away and swing it around. Just unnecessary. |

Good win...
Zepp came up with some big saves when he needed them.
Giroux had some chances and I have to think he breaks out soon given how consistent he has been over the course of his career.
B. Schenn looks better as a center.
Im still worried about Couturier, only 1 game with Jake so lets see what happens but he just doesn't seem to have much offensively right now
Simmonds is really a force offensively right now. |

I have no problem with Rinaldo playing or sitting as we have quite a few problems on this team - Umberger, VLC, consistency - and I don't have this "He's not an NHL player" attitude about him. But if he was sent to the Phantoms, I wouldn't shed a tear. That being said, I know for a fact he went right after Weber after the VDV hit, and barely at that. He didn't deserve a penalty. How did you see him going after Josi? - wolfhounds

Playing with Voracek can only help Couturier's offensive game, Read's season long slump hasn't helped his production.
Schenn looks like a different player in the middle, he was flying when put on that line. |

I gotta admit, in the short time Schenn has been at center, he looks like a different player. And today told me Voracek can drive possession no matter who he plays with. |

I think Schenn is far more comfortable at Center than wing but who knows if the offense will ever be to where we the fans want it to be.
Do love the 2 assists in 2 games but let's see if it holds up over a longer stretch of games. |
