I gotta admit, in the short time Schenn has been at center, he looks like a different player. And today told me Voracek can drive possession no matter who he plays with.

Totally agree with you on both points!

Schenn almost looked like he was skating in sand on the LW, & Umberger looks like a nice fit on his left.
I thought it was enjoyable watching all 4 lines play, & they all forechecked well!
I'm really hoping MDZ continues his strong play, he's made a huge difference on the backend!

I really think they have to re sign mdz. He's shown me a lot and as long as he can continue to improve, I think he can really help

MDZ is proving he is the player we saw the first few years in NY. And that confidence means everything.

Streit's not getting any younger, and Ghost, & Morin will take some time to play big minutes.
He's our #1 defenseman right now, (I believe).
I just hope they don't try to lowball him on a contract, he's still young, & a former first round pick.
His 2 way game has been really impressive!

He did make a bad pass on the first Nashville goal, or at least an ill advised pass...last season that would have snowballed on him an hurt his game the rest of the afternoon. He's not letting a mistake here or there stifle him now. I'd love to see him return on a reasonable deal.

The difference in Schenn's game is so noticeable. I advocated for him to move back, but had no expectation that it'd be such a pronounced change. He looks like the weight of the world is off his shoulders on that line, playing the middle.

A host of scouts were in attendance at the game; not surprising considering the rapidly approaching NHL trade deadline. Among the attendees was former Flyers player Scott Mellanby, now the assistant general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. Others included Hockey and Flyers Hall of Famer Mark Howe (Detroit Red Wings), Jason Botteril and Al Santilli (Pittsburgh Penguins), Jamie Pushor (Tampa Bay Lightning), Pierre Gauthier (Chicago Blackhawks), John Van Boxmeer (Buffalo Sabres), Peter Mahovolich (Florida Panthers), Dan O'Brien (Dallas Stars), Dave Taylor (St. Louis Blues), Frank Effinger (Arizona Coyotes), and Kerry Gwydir (New York Islanders).

Many of these scouts are regulars or semi-regulars at games in Philadelphia. Howe, for example, is almost always here.

Id be excited if Calgary or SJ had scouts in attendance

As one of those who thought he would be better as a wing, I have to agree. He is a different player. Which kind of annoys me because it looks like his effort is better. And he should be putting out effort no matter what, instead of moping around because he is riding shotgun on one of the best tandems in all of hockey.

Personally I don't think it's because he's moved to center from wing. I think it's because he just doesn't mesh well with Giroux and Voracek for some reason, and I see the same as you do. He's skating and moving his feet much better. I think that's the reason why he looks better.

Maybe, but, and I am only half joking because I am 220lbs and can skate, I think I could put up points by accident playing with Giroux and Voracek.

Because of the Hartnell trade, lack of LW scoring

Yeah, ask Briere about going from C, to RW.
Carter, (when he was here), going from C, to RW.
Hell, how about Brind'Amour, (from C, to LW)
Gratton, (C, to RW)
What would happen if they tried to move Couturier to LW?
Mel Bridgeman, they tried to move him to LW, no, didn't work..........the list goes on.

I watched 25 lectures today guys. I don't know what day it is. I'll probably only remember half the poop anyway

How'd the lines look today with Jake and G split up?

Like butter, (or bacon).

When one went off, you were happy to see the next one, we weren't a one, or two line team.
All forechecked, backchecked, played well.

Solid.

Finally seeing Schenn in the middle. I think that's going to be where he plays his most effective hockey.

I tuned in for the last 5 of regulation, then stayed until the end. They got trucked in OT. Lucky to make it through, imo

Not sure what your point here is.

How about Gagne from center to Wing? Two way street.

I thought both teams applied pressure, you can see which team, (us), was more concerned about not losing. But the ice was tilted in Nashville's end most of the day.
