Not really. The smart move was to trade Schneider before the situation got out of hand. I'd prefer to have Lou and his lower cap hit than Miller right now.

The cap recapture penalties could be a major issue if Lou retires early. Gillis mis-managed the entire situation.

definitely could have been handled better, but at the end of the day the Canucks have Horvat who looks like he'll be a solid #2 NHL centre with not much of a drop off in their goaltending. I can live with that as being an embarrassment
