Markstrom's numbers this year are better than anything Lack did in the AHL. Also, the best indicator is probably from when Lack was Markstrom's backup in Sweden, and his numbers were far worse.
I can't agree with the bolded whatsoever. - golfingsince
Currently markstrom has been hot but his career numbers still are not as good as lacks.
Lack 923 markstrom 917 in ahl.
Lack 912 markstrom 896 in NHL.
In Sweden you are right markstrom had better numbers. |

Vrbata! great puck movement - canucktruck
Our pk is horrible. No structure, we give up huge space and then spend our time chasing all over. We're usually out of position in two passes. |

I've been supportive of Kassian and wanted to see him play more lately etc etc but it cannot be denied his best hockey of the season has been during this period of tough love from the coach.
It's time to stop sniveling about how WD is holding Kassian down. You guys would seriously be happier with the coach just leaving him in the irrelevant rut he was in and hope he plays his way out himself?
In a nutshell, Kassian being invisible for months was more frustrating than seeing him scratched after one or two poor showings in recent weeks.

Lack has also had the benefit of being brought along slowly. Markstrom has been thrown into the fire on a terrible team, then bounced around. I think he's gonna be a good goalie given proper development.

So when kassian is playing poorly its his fault but when he plays well its because WD is pushing the right buttons. Can't have it both ways IMO. Kassian deserves the flack when plays poorly but he should also get credit when he is playing well.

Very good point, I agree and markstrom still has a chance but as of right now I don't see anything that suggests he will be better than lack. |

Were you not suggesting that the reason kassian is playing well because of WD tough love approach?
I don't understand why WD gets credit for kassian playing well. |

I agree. I'd keep Markstrom but to each their own I guess.
More importantly, we can't trade Kassian unless the return is huge. We just need to put him and other guys like Jensen in positions to succeed instead of giving the Higgin's 2nd line minutes.
I'm sick of seeing offensive players thrown to the bottom 6 and then being called out for lack of production. |
