The Jays and Panthers aren't in the same universe. The Jays are profitable and have the wealthiest owners in baseball. - RogerRoeper
The Toronto Blue Jays RECIEVED 15 million in sharing last season. So, stop the bull rap about your lousy team that gives out the money to others like candy. It's weak, and frankly, tiresome. |

Just out of curiosity, do the Blue Jays grab Dodger, Yankee, and Red Sox money? You perennial losers are always crying about the dough. Your product is crap, don't support it. - PanthersGoal
And if people stopped supporting teams when their 'product is crap' then the Panthers would have moved to another city a decade ago.
Right now Florida could use Kessel. Their main problem now is scoring. If I remember correctly they are 24-26th in that category. If they were 10th they would be in the playoffs right now. Kessel will help with this. Maybe the value is too much for you to pay but even if Florida makes the playoffs they won't win if they cannot score. They may end up being a Kessel away from being a threat. Tough to say though. |

Sorry bud, doesn't make any sense. Who cares what my username is? it could be Pleadian5000 and it still wouldn't have any relevance to hockey or comments I post...its a username. This comment thread is for hockey talk, not trying to pick fights online with people haha |

I'm confused about your issue. You hate that the Leafs support others with profit sharing? It is a good thing isn't it? |

Leaf fans WAKE UP!
Everyone on this thread that thinks Kessel is worth so much needs to give they're head a shake. Look, I'm a leafs fan and I have been my whole life...I bleed blue and white, but my god if you guys have been watching the games for the last 2-3 seasons then ask yourself what do you see? Phil kessel is a good guy and he can put the puck in the back of the net and thread passes like some of the best in the league no doubt... Now look, I'm not saying he's a bad player. He simply doesn't compete and he is a 1-dimensional player...a player getting payed 8million per season better be someone that is elite both offensively and defensively, that is a heart and soul type player. Phil Kessel has PACKED IT IN this year... he has been so bad it is hard to watch. Same with JVR. How can you hold these guys in such high regard? GM's around the league don't just look at the points and go: "oh phil kessel scores 30+ goals 80+points so he is worth a first round pick and 2 top end prospects" They are way more smart than that... They watch the games and see him throw in the towel every night...Who the hell would even want a guy like that on they're team? So what he scores 80+ points a year and he's been in the top 10 in scoring the past 3 seasons...what does that mean when he can't lead his team to the playoffs and the team gets scored on more often when he is on the ice? Look at his stats and see this guy has been a minus EVERY year he has been a Maple leaf...Where is his commitment off the ice? He has access to the best facilities and personal trainers in the WORLD and he still looks like he eats fast food for all of his meals... I hate ripping on the guy but where is the damn drive to get better? Sidney Crosby gets paid 8.7 million and this guy puts up 100+ points most seasons and he STILL isnt satisfied with his game...he always wants to get better. That's the type of player the leafs deserve and should be striving to build around!
JVR: He definitely competes harder than Kessel, and like Kessel he is extremely talented but watch the games and you will see that when the going gets tough JVR more often than not can't rise to the occasion. Don't get me wrong he can score and he is a big body that goes to the net but after watching the leafs melt downs the past 2-3 seasons everyone has to wake up and smell the coffee! These two guys do not have a lot of character and drive to get better (As I would argue JVR does more so than Kessel). I have watched it season after season. Right now it literally doesn't even look these these two guys are trying out there, and trust me GM's from all around the league are paying close attention to the ENTIRE leafs roster as they go through this melt down...
All I'm saying is that Leaf fans need to wake up a bit and stop over pricing our players. We are in the position we are in right now because our core players(Kessel JVR Phaneuf, Lupul ect...) clearly aren't good enough... I'm not saying they won't fetch a decent return but trust me there aren't many dumb general managers in the NHL and they know a hell of a lot more about these players than you think you do. - Pleiadian4

Not saying he can't help, he'd be good with Bjugstad, however, since we are one of the very few who could easily take that contract the most I'd give is Huberdeau straight up. Not a thing more, take it or leave it. |

Is that to much for you to read? haha
What's with kids these days? What kind of an attitude is that? lmao "Bullet points or STFU"... relax bud
Maybe I put some serious thought and logic into a comment that involved more detail than bullet points could handle? |

Your hockey team gives, your baseball team takes, so your compadre crying about sharing with us falls on deaf ears, and many are tired of seeing you continue to wave that flag.

Huberdeau hasn't proven he is worth anywhere near that. He is on pace for 14 goals and 48 points and has been very average (for a young player this could just be a part of his development but he has not shown that he is worth or is a first line or franchise player.
He also won't get Florida a Stanley Cup the way their roster sits now. If everyone develops perfectly over the next 3-5 years then they can contend but if you want to make a move now then I would go after a top goal scorer now (doesn't have to be Kessel but should be someone). |

I don't see a rulebook anywhere on here that says I need to keep my opinions short and in bullet form?
As long as the comments are true, genuine hockey oriented opinions then what's the problem? |

No way I'll gladly take a possible bust based on his current potential (2nd line winger or worse) for a top hockey player. Sign the papers and bend me over.

Haha yeah but NO ONE is a Stamkos or Ovechkin when it comes to scoring. Nothing wrong with a Bronze medal in scoring goals. - Steven_Dean
Exactly.
The other dude basically said kessel is garbage because he's not scoring 55-60 goals. |

Just because a handful of people commented saying that they were too lazy to read; most likely because it was too much for them to read... doesn't mean that others that looked over the comment and chose not to say anything about it didn't enjoy it? |
