no way you trade huberdeau for kessel straight up let alone a first and bergenheim. if huberdeau is included M.R. is coming back the other way... a fair trade would be kessel, Phaneuf and Reilly for huberdeau, kulikov and a 1st. id say thats a wash across the board and all the players get a change of scenery. |

Interesting. Apparently the Yotes also had a deal in place to move Michalek before he got injured. |

How on gods green earth is Huberdeau > Kessel.....hell he's not even better than Nail Yakupov. |

The original 6 teams, as well as the other Canadian teams should branch off and create their own league. A higher quality league. A more competitive league. Forget the leeches like Florida, NYI and Arizona. All they do is take money from the real franchises and dilute the NHL of talent simply by existing. The NHL does everything in their power to benefit these small franchises. Enough is enough. |

no way you trade a guy who has never topped 33 points, for a guy who is the 3rd highest scorer over the past 5 years?
also your second proposal might be the worst I've ever seen. Leafs might not even move Rielly alone for that package |

I would love it the Oilers traded for Joe Thornton. |

Mind=Blown.
For all the Kessel hate, the guy is still putting up a 30 goal, 65 point pace.
If they decide to blow it all up, they will take the best offer over the summer.

Kessel/Robidas for Huberdeau/Bergenheim/Fleischman/1st
Flip Bergenheim for a mid 2nd
Fleischman Walks
Robidas off the books not needed for a rebuild
Florida takes on 11m salary for next year
Looks fine to me |

With the West being such a tight race all of Vancouver LA Calgary n Winnipeg should make significant deals. Minnesota not so sure. Colorado/Dallas not likely IMO
Vancouver with JB keeping picks/prospects a minor hockey trade but want Stewart
LA's cap crunch means creativity n only a hockey trade.
Calgary has cap space for playoff push...Stewart or Vermette.
- Glencross to Habs if signs
Jets with many chips n cap space need a big move to stop sliding. |

Lol definitely leave it in that case. Enjoy your first round sweep, if you even make the playoffs.
If you want Kessel, start with:
Huberdeau
Trochek
1st 2015

Put it this way: without the Leafs, there is no NHL. Your team should be called the Florida leeches. - cesareborgia
You're just jealous of our potential first round sweep. Now, go get ready for school. |

this thread is awesome........
leafs fans asking for far more than kessel is actually worth
everyone else offering far less than he's worth
i can't wait until the offseason when serious trade discussions for him heat up......those threads will break the internet.
i think leaf fans will be disappointed when he's moved....it seems to me that most are expecting to get back at least what they gave up for him, and some people seem to think they'll get even more. in reality, i think because of his age and contract, they won't get back what they paid for him.
don't think they'll get a 1st in this year's draft, unless it's from a playoff team (ie. not a pick that could land mcdavid). i imagine they'll get a good young roster player, decent prospect (not bluechip), and late 2015 1st or 2016 1st. |

Reminds me of the Luongo deal, when they thought they'd get the world.
